So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them,“ Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?”

如果你们不愿意事奉耶和华，今天就选择你们的神明吧，或大河那边你们祖先事奉的神明，或你们这里亚摩利人的神明。至于我和我全家，我们必事奉耶和华。”

众人喊道：“除掉祂！除掉祂！把祂钉在十字架上！”彼拉多说：“我可以把你们的王钉在十字架上吗？”祭司长答道：“除了凯撒，我们没有别的王！”

以利亚走到众人面前说：“你们三心二意要到什么时候呢？如果耶和华是上帝，你们当跟从祂；如果巴力是上帝，你们就跟从他吧！”他们都默不作声。

彼拉多问：“你们要我为你们释放犹太人的王吗？”因为他知道祭司长把耶稣押来是出于妒忌。但祭司长却煽动百姓，叫他们要求彼拉多释放巴拉巴。彼拉多只好问：“那么，这位你们称之为犹太人之王的，我如何处置呢？”

总督再次问百姓：“这两个人，你们要我释放哪一个？”他们说：“巴拉巴！”彼拉多问：“那么，我怎样处置那个被称为基督的耶稣呢？”他们齐声说：“把祂钉在十字架上！”

雅各生约瑟。约瑟就是玛丽亚的丈夫，那被称为基督的耶稣就是玛丽亚生的。
