耶穌對彼得說：『就在今天晚上，雞叫以前，你就要三次否認我了。』

我知道在我裏面、就是在我肉體之中、沒有善住着；因為志願呢、我雖有，把善作出來呢、我卻不能。因為我所願意的善、我不去行；我所不願意的惡、我倒去作。我所不願意的、我若去行，便不再是我作出來的，乃是住在我裏面的罪作出來的。

西門，西門，你看吧，撒但要求要得着你們，好篩你們像麥子一樣；但是我為你祈求了，叫你的信心不消失；你回轉過來以後，要使你弟兄堅固。』彼得對耶穌說：『主啊，我就使同你走到監獄，甚至走到死地，也準備好了。』耶穌說：『彼得，我告訴你，今天雞還沒有叫，你就要三次否認我、說不認識我了。』

耶穌回答說：『你的性命、你要替我放棄！我實實在在地告訴你，雞還未叫，你必定要三次否認我了。』

弟兄們，縱使有人一時衝動被某種過犯所勝，你們屬靈的人也要以柔和的心靈把這樣的人改正過來。你也要察看自己，免得你也被試誘。

主轉過身來，瞪了彼得一眼，彼得就受提醒而記得主的話，他怎樣對他說：『今天雞叫以前，你就要三次否認我了』。便出去痛哭。

誰使你跟別人有分別呢？你有甚麼不是領受的呢？既也是領受的，為甚麼誇口、好像不是領受的呢？

（你們又是憑着信心、在上帝的能力中蒙守護）來得拯救，就是準備要在末後的時期才顯示出來的。

這時把耶穌送官的猶大見耶穌被定了罪，就後悔，把那三十錠銀子還給祭司長和長老，說：『我把無辜人送官處死，我有罪了。』他們說：『那與我們何干？你自理吧！』猶大把那銀子丟在殿堂裏，就退出來，去吊死了。
