Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken:“ Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.

Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said.“ The rooster will crow,” Jesus had told him.“ Before it does, you will say three times that you don’t know me.” Peter went outside. He broke down and cried.

Suddenly, Jesus’ words flashed through Peter’s mind:“ Before the rooster crows, you will deny three times that you even know me.” And he went away, weeping bitterly.

耶穌曰：『予實告爾、今夜雞猶未鳴、行見爾不認予者三。』

吾知寓吾肉身之內者、實無片善可稱也。為善之願、未始無有；而為善之力、則未能有也。心欲行善、而卒未能行；心雖疾惡、而卒未之能去也。既云非所願而行之、則自非我之所為、乃寓吾身中之罪之所為也。

西門、西門、爾其注意！沙殫欲簸汰爾曹、有如簸麥子、予曾為爾祈禱、使爾信德不渝、爾既回頭、務宜堅定爾兄弟之信心。』伯鐸祿對曰：『主乎、吾即偕子入獄、同子致命、亦所不辭。』耶穌應曰：『予實語汝、今宵雞鳴以前、行見汝三背予矣。』

耶穌曰：『汝欲為予致命耶！予確實語汝、今宵鷄猶未鳴、行見汝三背予矣！』

兄弟、人如有誤犯過失者、爾中之有靈修者當以溫和之精神、勸其改過遷善；亦須慎自檢點、庶免本身亦陷於罪。

主回顧伯鐸祿、伯鐸祿方憶主所語今宵雞鳴前、行見爾三背予之言、遂出而痛哭。

夫爾之優越、孰令致之？爾所有之一切、何一而非受之於主耶？既有所受、又安得自誇其所有、一若未之受耶？

蓋天主之神力、必能因爾之信德、保爾始終不渝、俾沐將顯於末日之恩澤也。

斯時、鬻主之茹答斯、見耶穌死案既決、悔之；乃以銀三十兩、返之司祭長及耆老曰：『予賣無辜之血、獲罪實深。』若輩對曰：『此爾之事、與我何涉？』茹答斯乃投銀殿中而退、出而自縊死。
