Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken:“ Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.

Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said.“ The rooster will crow,” Jesus had told him.“ Before it does, you will say three times that you don’t know me.” Peter went outside. He broke down and cried.

Suddenly, Jesus’ words flashed through Peter’s mind:“ Before the rooster crows, you will deny three times that you even know me.” And he went away, weeping bitterly.

耶穌對他說：「我確實地告訴你：今天晚上雞叫以前，你會三次不認我。」

事實上，我知道在我裡面，就是在我肉體中，沒有良善；因為行善的意願在我裡面，卻行不出來。這樣，我願意行的善，我沒有去行；我不願意做的惡，我反而去做。那麼，如果我做我不願意做的事，這事就不再是我所做的，而是住在我裡面的罪所做的。

主又說：「西門，西門，你看，撒旦想要得著你們，要篩你們像篩麥子一樣。但是，我已經為你祈求，使你不失去信仰。所以當你回轉過來的時候，要堅固你的弟兄們。」可是彼得對耶穌說：「主啊，我預備好要與你一起去監獄、一起去死！」耶穌卻說：「彼得，我告訴你：今天雞叫以前，你會三次否定認識我。」

耶穌回答：「你願意為我捨命嗎？我確確實實地告訴你：雞叫以前，你必定三次不認我。

弟兄們，一個人無論被任何過犯所勝，你們屬靈的人都要以溫柔的心靈把這樣的人挽回過來；但是你自己要留心，免得你也受試探。

主轉過身來注視彼得，彼得就想起主對他說過的話：「今天雞叫以前，你會三次不認我。」他就到外面去，痛哭起來。

使你與別人不同的到底是誰呢？你有什麼不是領受的呢？如果真是領受的，你為什麼還自誇，好像不是領受的呢？

你們藉著信，在神的大能中蒙保守，以至於那預備好要在末世顯現的救恩。

這時候，那出賣耶穌的猶大看見耶穌被定了死罪，就後悔，去把三十個銀錢退還給祭司長們和長老們，說：「我出賣了無辜人的血，我有罪了。」但是他們說：「這與我們有什麼關係？你自己看著辦吧！」猶大把銀錢丟在聖所裡就退了出來，去上吊自殺了。
