Then he started to curse and to swear with an oath,“ I don’t know the man!” Immediately a rooster crowed,

Then he began to call down curses, and he swore to them,“ I don’t know the man!” Immediately a rooster crowed.

But Peter said,“ Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

He said to his mother,“ The 1,100 pieces of silver taken from you, and that I heard you place a curse on— here’s the silver. I took it.” Then his mother said,“ My son, may you be blessed by the LORD!”

Then he started to curse and swear,“ I don’t know this man you’re talking about!”Immediately a rooster crowed a second time, and Peter remembered when Jesus had spoken the word to him,“ Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” And he broke down and wept.

But he denied it:“ I don’t know or understand what you’re talking about.” Then he went out to the entryway, and a rooster crowed.
