But he denied it before them all.“ I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said.

So, whoever thinks he stands must be careful not to fall.

But the cowards, faithless, detestable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars— their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Who was it you dreaded and feared, so that you lied and didn’t remember me or take it to heart? I have kept silent for a long time, haven’t I? So you do not fear me.

“ Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to him,“ tonight, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”“ Even if I have to die with you,” Peter told him,“ I will never deny you,” and all the disciples said the same thing.

True enough; they were broken off because of unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but beware,

Depart from me, you evil ones, so that I may obey my God’s commands.Sustain me as you promised, and I will live; do not let me be ashamed of my hope.Sustain me so that I can be safe and always be concerned about your statutes.

The one who trusts in himself is a fool, but one who walks in wisdom will be safe.

But all this has happened so that the writings of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples deserted him and ran away.

Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. He asked Peter,“ So, couldn’t you stay awake with me one hour?Stay awake and pray, so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”Again, a second time, he went away and prayed,“ My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done.”And he came again and found them sleeping, because they could not keep their eyes open.

A person’s pride will humble him, but a humble spirit will gain honor.

At that moment one of those with Jesus reached out his hand and drew his sword. He struck the high priest’s servant and cut off his ear.

Peter was following him at a distance right to the high priest’s courtyard. He went in and was sitting with the servants to see the outcome.

The fear of mankind is a snare, but the one who trusts in the LORD is protected.

The heart is more deceitful than anything else, and incurable— who can understand it?
