Now Peter was sitting out in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him.“ You also were with Jesus of Galilee,” she said.

When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, a voice came to him and said,“ What are you doing here, Elijah?”

When he had gone out to the gateway, another slave woman saw him and* said to those who were there,“ This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.”

And while Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the slave women of the high priest* came,and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him and* said,“ You were with Jesus the Nazarene as well.”But he denied it, saying,“ I neither know nor understand what you are talking about.” And he went out onto the porch.The slave woman saw him, and began once more to say to the bystanders,“ This man is one of them!”But again he denied it. And after a little while the bystanders were again saying to Peter,“ You really are one of them, for you are a Galilean as well.”But he began to curse himself and to swear,“ I do not know this man of whom you speak!”And immediately a rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had made the remark to him,“ Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And he hurried on and began to weep.

Then he came there to a cave and spent the night there; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him,“ What are you doing here, Elijah?”

At that time the chief priests and the elders of the people were gathered together in the courtyard of the high priest named Caiaphas;

But Peter was following Him at a distance, as far as the courtyard of the high priest, and he came inside and sat down with the officers to see the outcome.

Nathanael said to him,“ Can anything good be from Nazareth?” Philip* said to him,“ Come and see.”

They answered and said to him,“ You are not from Galilee as well, are you? Examine the Scriptures, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee.”

After this man, Judas of Galilee appeared in the days of the census and drew away some people after him; he also perished, and all those who followed him were scattered.

Others were saying,“ This is the Christ.” But others were saying,“ Surely the Christ is not coming from Galilee, is He?

but Peter was standing at the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the doorkeeper, and brought Peter in.Then the slave woman who was the doorkeeper* said to Peter,“ You are not also one of this Man’s disciples, are you?” He* said,“ I am not.”Now the slaves and the officers were standing there, having made a charcoal fire, for it was cold and they were warming themselves; and Peter was also with them, standing and warming himself.

After they kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter was sitting among them.And a slave woman, seeing him as he sat in the firelight, and staring at him, said,“ This man was with Him as well.”But he denied it, saying,“ I do not know Him, woman!”And a little later, another person saw him and said,“ You are one of them too!” But Peter said,“ Man, I am not!”And after about an hour had passed, some other man began to insist, saying,“ Certainly this man also was with Him, for he, too, is a Galilean.”But Peter said,“ Man, I do not know what you are talking about!” And immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.And then the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him,“ Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.”And he went out and wept bitterly.

and if He rescued righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the perverted conduct of unscrupulous people( for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds),then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from a trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,

But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Then after being warned by God in a dream, he left for the regions of Galilee,and came and settled in a city called Nazareth. This happened so that what was spoken through the prophets would be fulfilled:“ He will be called a Nazarene.”

Now Simon Peter was still standing and warming himself. So they said to him,“ You are not one of His disciples as well, are you?” He denied it, and said,“ I am not.”One of the slaves of the high priest, who was related to the one whose ear Peter cut off,* said,“ Did I not see you in the garden with Him?”Peter then denied it again, and immediately a rooster crowed.

Blessed is the person who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!

And the crowds were saying,“ This is Jesus the prophet, from Nazareth in Galilee.”
