He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.

“ And now I am their taunting song; Yes, I am their byword.They abhor me, they keep far from me; They do not hesitate to spit in my face.Because He has loosed my bowstring and afflicted me, They have cast off restraint before me.

Let him give his cheek to the one who strikes him, And be full of reproach.

Then some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him, and to say to Him,“ Prophesy!” And the officers struck Him with the palms of their hands.

For you put up with it if one brings you into bondage, if one devours you, if one takes from you, if one exalts himself, if one strikes you on the face.To our shame I say that we were too weak for that! But in whatever anyone is bold— I speak foolishly— I am bold also.

and they will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.”

Then they struck Him on the head with a reed and spat on Him; and bowing the knee, they worshiped Him.

being defamed, we entreat. We have been made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now.

You have made us an offscouring and refuse In the midst of the peoples.

Now Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said,“ Which way did the spirit from the Lord go from me to speak to you?”
