Then they spat in his face and struck him with their fists. And some slapped him,

乃唾其面、毆以拳、更有掌之者、且曰：

When Jesus had said this, one of the high priest’s officers who stood nearby struck him on the face and said,“ Is that the way you answer the high priest?”

I offered my back to those who attacked, my jaws to those who tore out my beard; I did not hide my face from insults and spitting.

They spat on him and took the staff and struck him repeatedly on the head.

He was despised and rejected by people, one who experienced pain and was acquainted with illness; people hid their faces from him; he was despised, and we considered him insignificant.

( just as many were horrified by the sight of you) he was so disfigured he no longer looked like a man;

But I say to you, do not resist the evildoer. But whoever strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other to him as well.

then his sister-in-law must approach him in view of the elders, remove his sandal from his foot, and spit in his face. She will then respond,“ Thus may it be done to any man who does not maintain his brother’s family line!”

At that the high priest Ananias ordered those standing near Paul to strike him on the mouth.Then Paul said to him,“ God is going to strike you, you whitewashed wall! Do you sit there judging me according to the law, and in violation of the law you order me to be struck?”

They came up to him again and again and said,“ Hail, king of the Jews!” And they struck him repeatedly in the face.

( 4: 14) But now slash yourself, daughter surrounded by soldiers! We are besieged! With a scepter they strike Israel’s ruler on the side of his face.

“ And now I have become their taunt song; I have become a byword among them.They detest me and maintain their distance; they do not hesitate to spit in my face.Because God has untied my tent cord and afflicted me, people throw off all restraint in my presence.

For you put up with it if someone makes slaves of you, if someone exploits you, if someone takes advantage of you, if someone behaves arrogantly toward you, if someone strikes you in the face.( To my disgrace I must say that we were too weak for that!) But whatever anyone else dares to boast about( I am speaking foolishly), I also dare to boast about the same thing.

They will mock him, spit on him, flog him severely, and kill him. Yet after three days, he will rise again.”

Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Then they knelt down and paid homage to him.

when people lie about us, we answer in a friendly manner. We are the world’s dirt and scum, even now.

You make us like filthy scum in the estimation of the nations.פ( Pe)

Zedekiah son of Kenaanah approached, hit Micaiah on the jaw, and said,“ Which way did the LORD’s spirit go when he went from me to speak to you?”

keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set out for him he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.

The LORD said to Moses,“ If her father had only spit in her face, would she not have been disgraced for seven days? Shut her out from the camp seven days, and afterward she can be brought back in again.”

When he heard Jeremiah’s prophecy, he had the prophet flogged. Then he put him in the stocks which were at the Upper Gate of Benjamin in the LORD’s temple.
