But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.

耶穌默然、祭司長曰、當永生上帝前、我令爾誓而告我、爾果上帝子基督否、

耶穌默然、大祭司曰、我令爾指永生天主誓而告我、爾果天主之子基督否、

耶穌默然不答。大司祭曰：『予指永生之天主、使爾誓而告予、爾為天主之子基督乎？』

But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him,“ I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”

But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him,“ I am commanding you in the name of the living God. May he judge you if you don’t tell the truth. Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”

But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest said to him,“ I adjure you by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.”

But Jesus remained silent. Then the high priest said to him,“ I demand in the name of the living God— tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”

But Jesus kept silent. The high priest said to him,“ I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”

But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest said to Him,“ I place You under oath by the living God, to tell us whether You are the Christ, the Son of God.”

But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him,“ I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!”

But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou art the Christ, the Son of God.

And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and[ is] a witness, whether he hath seen or known[ of it]; if he do not utter[ it], then he shall bear his iniquity.

And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.

And when the people were come into the wood, behold, the honey dropped; but no man put his hand to his mouth: for the people feared the oath.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.Of the increase of[ his] government and peace[ there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth[ them]; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:That all[ men] should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.

And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest[ it] in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but[ that which is] true in the name of the LORD?

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we[ are] not careful to answer thee in this matter.

Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

I and[ my] Father are one.

Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even[ the same] that I said unto you from the beginning.

They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth[ it] not.

He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:And if I also ask[ you], ye will not answer me, nor let[ me] go.Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed[ himself] to him that judgeth righteously:

The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed[ be] the man that eateth[ any] food this day. And the people were faint.

And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou say nothing but the truth to me in the name of the LORD?

Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou[ art] my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

They also that seek after my life lay snares[ for me]: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.But I, as a deaf[ man], heard not; and[ I was] as a dumb man[ that] openeth not his mouth.Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth[ are] no reproofs.

Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

And the priest shall charge her by an oath, and say unto the woman, If no man have lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness[ with another] instead of thy husband, be thou free from this bitter water that causeth the curse:But if thou hast gone aside[ to another] instead of thy husband, and if thou be defiled, and some man have lain with thee beside thine husband:Then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, The LORD make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the LORD doth make thy thigh to rot, and thy belly to swell;

And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed[ be] the man that eateth[ any] food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted[ any] food.
