旁邊站着的人，有一個拔出刀來，將大祭司的僕人砍了一刀，削掉了他一個耳朵。

我們爭戰的兵器本不是屬血氣的，乃是在神面前有能力，可以攻破堅固的營壘，

耶穌回答說：「我的國不屬這世界；我的國若屬這世界，我的臣僕必要爭戰，使我不至於被交給猶太人。只是我的國不屬這世界。」

耶穌轉身責備兩個門徒，說：「你們的心如何，你們並不知道。

彼得說：「我就是必須和你同死，也總不能不認你。」眾門徒都是這樣說。

左右的人見光景不好，就說：「主啊！我們拿刀砍可以不可以？」內中有一個人把大祭司的僕人砍了一刀，削掉了他的右耳。耶穌說：「到了這個地步，由他們吧！」就摸那人的耳朵，把他治好了。

西門‧彼得帶着一把刀，就拔出來，將大祭司的僕人砍了一刀，削掉他的右耳；那僕人名叫馬勒古。耶穌就對彼得說：「收刀入鞘吧，我父所給我的那杯，我豈可不喝呢？」

耶穌說：「但如今有錢囊的可以帶着，有口袋的也可以帶着，沒有刀的要賣衣服買刀。我告訴你們，經上寫着說：『他被列在罪犯之中。』這話必應驗在我身上，因為那關係我的事必然成就。」他們說：「主啊，請看！這裏有兩把刀。」耶穌說：「夠了。」
