因為我們爭戰所用的兵器不是屬肉體的，而是有屬神的能力，可以拆毀堡壘——拆毀各樣的心思，

耶穌回答：「我的國不屬於這個世界。如果我的國屬於這個世界，我的僕人們早就會爭戰，不讓我被交給那些猶太人。但如今，我的國不在這裡。」

耶穌轉過身來責備他們。

彼得對耶穌說：「即使我必須與你同死，我也絕不會不認你。」所有的門徒也都如此說。

耶穌周圍的人看到要發生的事，就說：「主啊，我們要用刀砍嗎？」其中一個人向大祭司的奴僕砍去，削掉了他的右耳。耶穌應聲說：「住手，到此為止！」然後摸一下那個人的耳朵，使他痊癒了。

西門彼得帶著一把刀。他拔出刀來，向大祭司的奴僕砍去，削掉了他的右耳。那奴僕的名字是馬勒古。耶穌就對彼得說：「把刀收回鞘裡！父所賜給我的杯，我難道能不喝嗎？」

耶穌卻對他們說：「但現在，有錢包的應當帶著；同樣，有行囊的也應當帶著；沒有刀的，應當賣掉自己的外衣去買一把。我告訴你們：經上記著：『他被列在不法之徒當中』，這話必須在我身上成就，因為那有關我的事就要有個結局了。」他們說：「主啊，你看，這裡有兩把刀。」耶穌說：「實在夠了。」
