站在旁边的一个门徒拔出刀来，向大祭司的奴仆砍去，削掉了他的一个耳朵。

因为我们争战所用的兵器不是属肉体的，而是有属神的能力，可以拆毁堡垒——拆毁各样的心思，

耶稣回答：“我的国不属于这个世界。如果我的国属于这个世界，我的仆人们早就会争战，不让我被交给那些犹太人。但如今，我的国不在这里。”

耶稣转过身来责备他们。

彼得对耶稣说：“即使我必须与你同死，我也绝不会不认你。”所有的门徒也都如此说。

耶稣周围的人看到要发生的事，就说：“主啊，我们要用刀砍吗？”其中一个人向大祭司的奴仆砍去，削掉了他的右耳。耶稣应声说：“住手，到此为止！”然后摸一下那个人的耳朵，使他痊愈了。

西门彼得带着一把刀。他拔出刀来，向大祭司的奴仆砍去，削掉了他的右耳。那奴仆的名字是马勒古。耶稣就对彼得说：“把刀收回鞘里！父所赐给我的杯，我难道能不喝吗？”

耶稣却对他们说：“但现在，有钱包的应当带着；同样，有行囊的也应当带着；没有刀的，应当卖掉自己的外衣去买一把。我告诉你们：经上记着：‘他被列在不法之徒当中’，这话必须在我身上成就，因为那有关我的事就要有个结局了。”他们说：“主啊，你看，这里有两把刀。”耶稣说：“实在够了。”
