站在旁邊的一個門徒拔出刀朝大祭司的奴僕砍去，削掉了他一隻耳朵。

我們爭戰的兵器不是屬血氣的，乃是從上帝而來的能力，可以摧毀堅固的營壘，

耶穌答道：「我的國不屬於這個世界，如果我的國屬於這個世界，我的臣僕早就起來爭戰了，我也不會被交在猶太人的手裡。但我的國不屬於這個世界。」

耶穌轉過身來責備他們。

彼得說：「就算要我跟你一起死，我也不會不認你！」其餘的門徒也都這樣說。

跟隨耶穌的人見他們來勢洶洶，就說：「主啊，我們該拔刀抵抗嗎？」其中一人拔刀朝大祭司的奴僕砍過去，削掉了他的右耳。耶穌卻說：「住手！夠了！」於是祂摸那奴僕的耳朵，治好了他，

這時，西門·彼得帶著一把刀，他拔刀向大祭司的奴僕馬勒古砍去，削掉了他的右耳。耶穌對彼得說：「收刀入鞘吧！我父賜給我的杯，我怎能不喝呢？」

耶穌說：「但現在如果有錢袋或背包，都要帶著；如果沒有刀劍，要賣掉衣服買刀劍。我告訴你們，『祂要被列在罪犯中』這句經文必在我身上應驗，因為聖經上有關我的事情快要實現了。」他們說：「主啊，請看，這裡有兩把刀。」耶穌說：「夠了。」
