Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto his disciples, Sit ye here, while I go yonder and pray.

But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O Jehovah, in an acceptable time: O God, in the abundance of thy lovingkindness, Answer me in the truth of thy salvation.Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: Let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.Let not the waterflood overwhelm me, Neither let the deep swallow me up; And let not the pit shut its mouth upon me.

And he came out, and went, as his custom was, unto the mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed him.And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.And he was parted from them about a stone’s cast; and he kneeled down and prayed,saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.And there appeared unto him an angel from heaven, strengthening him.And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became as it were great drops of blood falling down upon the ground.And when he rose up from his prayer, he came unto the disciples, and found them sleeping for sorrow,and said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, that ye enter not into temptation.

My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning?O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou answerest not; And in the night season, and am not silent.

Save me, O God; For the waters are come in unto my soul.I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.I am weary with my crying; my throat is dried: Mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

And they come unto a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith unto his disciples, Sit ye here, while I pray.And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly amazed, and sore troubled.And he saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful even unto death: abide ye here, and watch.And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him.And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; remove this cup from me: howbeit not what I will, but what thou wilt.And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest thou not watch one hour?Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.And again he went away, and prayed, saying the same words.And again he came, and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they knew not what to answer him.And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough; the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.Arise, let us be going: behold, he that betrayeth me is at hand.

When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Kidron, where was a garden, into which he entered, himself and his disciples.Now Judas also, who betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus oft- times resorted thither with his disciples.Judas then, having received the band of soldiers, and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were coming upon him, went forth, and saith unto them, Whom seek ye?They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, who betrayed him, was standing with them.When therefore he said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.Again therefore he asked them, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.Jesus answered, I told you that I am he; if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:that the word might be fulfilled which he spake, Of those whom thou hast given me I lost not one.Simon Peter therefore having a sword drew it, and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. Now the servant’s name was Malchus.Jesus therefore said unto Peter, Put up the sword into the sheath: the cup which the Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
