祭司長和法利賽人召開議會，說：「這人行好些神蹟，我們怎麼辦呢？若讓他這樣做，人人都要信他；羅馬人也要來毀滅我們的聖殿和我們的民族。」其中有一個人，名叫該亞法，那年當大祭司，對他們說：「你們甚麼都不知道，也不想想，一個人替百姓死，免得整個民族滅亡，這對你們是有利的。」他這話不是出於自己的意思，而是因他那年當大祭司，所以預言耶穌將為這民族而死。他不但替這民族死，還要把神四散的兒女都聚集起來，合成一羣。從那日起，他們就商議要殺耶穌。

於是亞那把耶穌綁着押解到大祭司該亞法那裏。

彼得遠遠地跟着耶穌，直到進了大祭司的院子，和警衛一同坐在火邊取暖。

你曾藉着聖靈託你僕人－我們祖宗大衛的口說：『外邦為甚麼擾動？萬民為甚麼謀算虛妄的事？地上的君王都站穩，臣宰也聚集一處，要對抗主，對抗主的受膏者。』希律和本丟‧彼拉多，同外邦人和以色列民，果然在這城裏聚集，要攻打你所膏的聖僕耶穌，做了你手和你旨意所預定必成就的事。

先帶到亞那面前，因為他是那年的大祭司該亞法的岳父。這該亞法就是從前向猶太人忠告說「一個人替百姓死是有利的」那個人。西門‧彼得跟着耶穌，另一個門徒也跟着；那門徒是大祭司所認識的，他就同耶穌進了大祭司的院子。

列國為甚麼爭鬧？萬民為甚麼圖謀虛妄？世上的君王都站穩，臣宰一同算計，要對抗耶和華，對抗他的受膏者：

那時，祭司長和法利賽人早已下令，若有人知道耶穌的下落，就要報告，他們好去捉拿他。

他們把耶穌從該亞法那裏押解到總督府。那時是清早。他們自己卻不進總督府，恐怕染了污穢，不能吃逾越節的宴席。

抓耶穌的人把他帶到大祭司該亞法那裏去，文士和長老已經在那裏聚集。彼得遠遠地跟着耶穌，直到大祭司的院子，進到裏面，就和警衛同坐，要看結局怎樣。

第二天，官長、長老和文士在耶路撒冷聚集，又有亞那大祭司、該亞法、約翰、亞歷山大，和大祭司的親族都在那裏。

他們聚集，埋伏，窺探我的腳蹤，等候要害我的命。

要在暗地裏射完全人；他們忽然射他，並不懼怕。他們彼此勉勵，設下惡計；他們商量，暗設圈套，說：「誰能看見呢？」他們圖謀奸惡：「我們完成了精密的策劃。」各人的意念心思是深沉的。

祭司長和法利賽人聽見他的比喻，就看出他是指着他們說的。他們想要捉拿他，但是懼怕眾人，因為眾人認為他是先知。

我像柔順的羔羊被牽去宰殺，並不知道他們設計謀害我：「我們把樹連果子都滅了吧！把他從活人之地剪除，使他的名不再被記得。」

那藉着律例玩弄奸惡、以權位肆行殘害的，豈能與你交往呢？他們大家聚集攻擊義人，將無辜的人定了死罪。

他們說：「來吧！讓我們設計謀害耶利米；因為我們有祭司講律法，有智慧人設謀略，有先知說預言，都未曾斷絕。來吧！讓我們用舌頭攻擊他，不要理他一切的話。」耶和華啊，求你留心聽我，且聽那些指控我的人的話。人豈可以惡報善呢？他們竟挖坑要害我的性命！求你記念我站在你面前為他們說好話，要使你的憤怒轉離他們。

你們若不聽從我，不以安息日為聖日，仍在安息日挑擔子進入耶路撒冷的各城門，我必在城門中點火；這火必燒燬耶路撒冷的宮殿，不會熄滅。」

亞那和該亞法作大祭司。那時，撒迦利亞的兒子約翰在曠野裏，神的話臨到他。

彼得在外面院子裏坐着，有一個使女前來，說：「你素來也是同那加利利人耶穌一起的。」
