In Jerusalem, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will spread a wonderful feast for all the people of the world. It will be a delicious banquet with clear, well aged wine and choice meat.

I have entered my garden, my treasure, my bride! I gather myrrh with my spices and eat honeycomb with my honey. I drink wine with my milk. Oh, lover and beloved, eat and drink! Yes, drink deeply of your love!

May your kisses be as exciting as the best wine— Yes, wine that goes down smoothly for my lover, flowing gently over lips and teeth.

I will lift up the cup of salvation and praise the Lord’s name for saving me.

And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them, and they all drank from it.And he said to them,“ This is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice for many.

After supper he took another cup of wine and said,“ This cup is the new covenant between God and his people— an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.

When we bless the cup at the Lord’s Table, aren’t we sharing in the blood of Christ? And when we break the bread, aren’t we sharing in the body of Christ?

That is why you should examine yourself before eating the bread and drinking the cup.
