When we bless the cup at the Lord’s Table, aren’t we sharing in the blood of Christ? And when we break the bread, aren’t we sharing in the body of Christ?And though we are many, we all eat from one loaf of bread, showing that we are one body.

For I will not drink wine again until the Kingdom of God has come.”He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying,“ This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”After supper he took another cup of wine and said,“ This cup is the new covenant between God and his people— an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.

The true bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”“ Sir,” they said,“ give us that bread every day.”Jesus replied,“ I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

On the first day of the week, we gathered with the local believers to share in the Lord’s Supper. Paul was preaching to them, and since he was leaving the next day, he kept talking until midnight.

“ I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life.Yes, I am the bread of life!Your ancestors ate manna in the wilderness, but they all died.Anyone who eats the bread from heaven, however, will never die.I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and this bread, which I will offer so the world may live, is my flesh.”Then the people began arguing with each other about what he meant.“ How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” they asked.So Jesus said again,“ I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you cannot have eternal life within you.But anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise that person at the last day.For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.I live because of the living Father who sent me; in the same way, anyone who feeds on me will live because of me.I am the true bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will not die as your ancestors did( even though they ate the manna) but will live forever.”

They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—

These two women serve as an illustration of God’s two covenants. The first woman, Hagar, represents Mount Sinai where people received the law that enslaved them.And now Jerusalem is just like Mount Sinai in Arabia, because she and her children live in slavery to the law.

Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. He also divided the fish for everyone to share.

Then take some of these hairs out and throw them into the fire, burning them up. A fire will then spread from this remnant and destroy all of Israel.“ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: This is an illustration of what will happen to Jerusalem. I placed her at the center of the nations,

and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from the spiritual rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ.

As they sat down to eat, he took the bread and blessed it. Then he broke it and gave it to them.

Then he told the people to sit down on the grass. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave the bread to the disciples, who distributed it to the people.
