門徒不勝戚戚、一一問之曰：『主、予乎？』

They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other,“ Surely you don’t mean me, Lord?”

The disciples became very sad. One after the other, they began to say to him,“ Surely you don’t mean me, Lord, do you?”

And they were very sorrowful and began to say to him one after another,“ Is it I, Lord?”

Greatly distressed, each one asked in turn,“ Am I the one, Lord?”

Deeply distressed, each one began to say to him,“ Surely not I, Lord?”

Being deeply grieved, they began saying to Him, each one:“ Surely it is not I, Lord?”

And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and each of them began to say to Him,“ Lord, is it I?”

And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began to say unto him every one, Is it I, Lord?

Deeply distressed, each one began to say to Him,“ Surely not I, Lord?”

And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?

They became greatly distressed and each one began to say to him,“ Surely not I, Lord?”

They began to be sorrowful, and to ask him one by one,“ Surely not I?” And another said,“ Surely not I?”He answered them,“ It is one of the twelve, he who dips with me in the dish.

They began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing.

The disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom he spoke.One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was at the table, leaning against Jesus’ breast.Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, and said to him,“ Tell us who it is of whom he speaks.”He, leaning back, as he was, on Jesus’ breast, asked him,“ Lord, who is it?”

He said to him the third time,“ Simon, son of Jonah, do you have affection for me?” Peter was grieved because he asked him the third time,“ Do you have affection for me?” He said to him,“ Lord, you know everything. You know that I have affection for you.” Jesus said to him,“ Feed my sheep.
