門徒不勝戚戚、一一問之曰：『主、予乎？』

They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other,“ Surely you don’t mean me, Lord?”

The disciples became very sad. One after the other, they began to say to him,“ Surely you don’t mean me, Lord, do you?”

And they were very sorrowful and began to say to him one after another,“ Is it I, Lord?”

Greatly distressed, each one asked in turn,“ Am I the one, Lord?”

Being deeply grieved, they began saying to Him, each one:“ Surely it is not I, Lord?”

And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and each of them began to say to Him,“ Lord, is it I?”

And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began to say unto him every one, Is it I, Lord?

They began to be distressed and to say to him one by one,“ Surely not I?”He said to them,“ It is one of the Twelve— the one who is dipping bread in the bowl with me.

So they began to argue among themselves which of them it could be who was going to do it.

The disciples started looking at one another— uncertain which one he was speaking about.One of his disciples, the one Jesus loved, was reclining close beside Jesus.Simon Peter motioned to him to find out who it was he was talking about.So he leaned back against Jesus and asked him,“ Lord, who is it?”

He asked him the third time,“ Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved that he asked him the third time,“ Do you love me?” He said,“ Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.”“ Feed my sheep,” Jesus said.
