除酵節的第一日到了，在這一天必須宰殺逾越節的羔羊。耶穌差派彼得和約翰，說：「你們去為我們預備逾越節的晚餐，好讓我們能吃上。」他們問耶穌：「你要我們在哪裡預備呢？」耶穌對他們說：「看哪！你們進了城，會有一個人提著一罐水迎面而來，你們就跟著他，到他所進的那一家去，對那家的主人說：『老師問你：我與我的門徒們一起吃逾越節晚餐的客房在哪裡呢？』他會給你們看樓上一間布置好的大房間，你們就在那裡預備吧。」他們去了，看到的正如耶穌對他們所說的。他們就預備了逾越節的晚餐。

除酵節的第一日，就是人們宰殺逾越節羔羊的那一天，耶穌的門徒們問他：「你要我們到哪裡去預備，好讓你吃逾越節的晚餐呢？」於是耶穌差派了他的兩個門徒，對他們說：「你們進城去，會有一個人提著一罐水迎面而來，你們就跟著他。他進哪一家，你們就對那家的主人說：『老師問：我的客房，就是我與我的門徒們一起吃逾越節晚餐的客房在哪裡呢？』他會給你們看樓上一間預備好的大房間。你們就在那裡為我們預備吧。」兩個門徒出去，進了城，所看到的正如耶穌對他們所說的。他們就預備了逾越節的晚餐。

門徒們就依照耶穌所吩咐的去做，預備了逾越節的晚餐。

他們來到迦百農，那些收聖殿稅的人來到彼得那裡，說：「你們的老師不納聖殿稅嗎？」彼得說：「當然納。」彼得進了屋子，耶穌先問他：「西門，這件事你怎麼看？地上的眾君王向誰徵收關稅和丁稅呢？向自己的兒女，還是向外人呢？」

耶穌回答他，說：「現在你就答應吧，因為我們如此成全一切的義，是合宜的。」於是約翰答應了他。
