“ Let your waist be dressed and your lamps burning.

Let’s fear therefore, lest perhaps anyone of you should seem to have come short of a promise of entering into his rest.

But the path of the righteous is like the dawning light that shines more and more until the perfect day.The way of the wicked is like darkness. They don’t know what they stumble over.

The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.

So are the paths of all who forget God. The hope of the godless man will perish,Whose confidence will break apart, Whose trust is a spider’s web.

What was sown on the rocky places, this is he who hears the word, and immediately with joy receives it;yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.

“ Yes, the light of the wicked will be put out. The spark of his fire won’t shine.

Simon answered,“ Pray for me to the Lord, that none of the things which you have spoken happen to me.”

“ How often is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out, that their calamity comes on them, that God distributes sorrows in his anger?

Be careful therefore how you hear. For whoever has, to him will be given; and whoever doesn’t have, from him will be taken away even that which he thinks he has.”
