“ Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning;

Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.

But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know what makes them stumble.

The light of the righteous rejoices, But the lamp of the wicked will be put out.

So are the paths of all who forget God; And the hope of the hypocrite shall perish,Whose confidence shall be cut off, And whose trust is a spider’s web.

But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

Whoever curses his father or his mother, His lamp will be put out in deep darkness.

“ The light of the wicked indeed goes out, And the flame of his fire does not shine.

Then Simon answered and said,“ Pray to the Lord for me, that none of the things which you have spoken may come upon me.”

Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie— indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.

and do not think to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

“ Then he cried and said,‘ Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’

“ How often is the lamp of the wicked put out? How often does their destruction come upon them, The sorrows God distributes in His anger?

Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him.”
