“ For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them.

“ Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them.

“ Again, here is what the kingdom of heaven will be like. A man was going on a journey. He sent for his slaves and put them in charge of his money.

“ For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property.

“ Again, the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. He called together his servants and entrusted his money to them while he was gone.

“ For it is just like a man about to go on a journey. He called his own servants and entrusted his possessions to them.

“ For it is just like a man about to go on a journey, who called his own slaves and entrusted his possessions to them.

For it is as when a man, going into another country, called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

“ For it is just like a man going on a journey. He called his own slaves and turned over his possessions to them.

For[ the kingdom of heaven is] as a man travelling into a far country,[ who] called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

“ For it is like a man going on a journey, who summoned his slaves and entrusted his property to them.

“ For it is like a man, going into another country, who called his own servants, and entrusted his goods to them.

Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch.

Therefore He said:“ A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them,‘ Do business till I come.’But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying,‘ We will not have this man to reign over us.’“ And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.Then came the first, saying,‘ Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’And he said to him,‘ Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’And the second came, saying,‘ Master, your mina has earned five minas.’Likewise he said to him,‘ You also be over five cities.’“ Then another came, saying,‘ Master, here is your mina, which I have kept put away in a handkerchief.For I feared you, because you are an austere man. You collect what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’And he said to him,‘ Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow.Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’“ And he said to those who stood by,‘ Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.’( But they said to him,‘ Master, he has ten minas.’)‘ For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.’”

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,

There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body— whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free— and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.For in fact the body is not one member but many.If the foot should say,“ Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body?And if the ear should say,“ Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body?If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling?But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.And if they were all one member, where would the body be?But now indeed there are many members, yet one body.And the eye cannot say to the hand,“ I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet,“ I have no need of you.”No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty,but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it,that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?

He also said to His disciples:“ There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and an accusation was brought to him that this man was wasting his goods.So he called him and said to him,‘ What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.’“ Then the steward said within himself,‘ What shall I do? For my master is taking the stewardship away from me. I cannot dig; I am ashamed to beg.I have resolved what to do, that when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.’“ So he called every one of his master’s debtors to him, and said to the first,‘ How much do you owe my master?’And he said,‘ A hundred measures of oil.’ So he said to him,‘ Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’Then he said to another,‘ And how much do you owe?’ So he said,‘ A hundred measures of wheat.’ And he said to him,‘ Take your bill, and write eighty.’So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.“ And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home.He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own?

Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.

“ For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them.And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey.Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.And likewise he who had received two gained two more also.But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money.After a long time the Lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.“ So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying,‘ Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’His Lord said to him,‘ Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.’He also who had received two talents came and said,‘ Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’His Lord said to him,‘ Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.’“ Then he who had received the one talent came and said,‘ Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed.And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’“ But his Lord answered and said to him,‘ You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed.So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest.So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.‘ For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

“ Hear another parable: There was a certain landowner who planted a vineyard and set a hedge around it, dug a winepress in it and built a tower. And he leased it to vinedressers and went into a far country.

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith;or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching;he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one?

Then He began to tell the people this parable:“ A certain man planted a vineyard, leased it to vinedressers, and went into a far country for a long time.
