They will put you out of the synagogue, yet a time is coming when the one who kills you will think he is offering service to God.

If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. However, because you do not belong to the world, but I chose you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you.Remember what I told you,‘ A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they obeyed my word, they will obey yours too.

You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and they will have some of you put to death.You will be hated by everyone because of my name.

Do not be afraid of the things you are about to suffer. The devil is about to have some of you thrown into prison so you may be tested, and you will experience suffering for ten days. Remain faithful even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown that is life itself.

But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you, handing you over to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and governors because of my name.

“ You must watch out for yourselves. You will be handed over to councils and beaten in the synagogues. You will stand before governors and kings because of me, as a witness to them.First the gospel must be preached to all nations.When they arrest you and hand you over for trial, do not worry about what to speak. But say whatever is given you at that time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.Brother will hand over brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise against parents and have them put to death.You will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

Beware of people, because they will hand you over to councils and flog you in their synagogues.And you will be brought before governors and kings because of me, as a witness to them and the Gentiles.Whenever they hand you over for trial, do not worry about how to speak or what to say, for what you should say will be given to you at that time.For it is not you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.“ Brother will hand over brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise against parents and have them put to death.And you will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

So I said to him,“ My lord, you know the answer.” Then he said to me,“ These are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb!

Now when the Lamb opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been violently killed because of the word of God and because of the testimony they had given.They cried out with a loud voice,“ How long, Sovereign Master, holy and true, before you judge those who live on the earth and avenge our blood?”Each of them was given a long white robe and they were told to rest for a little longer, until the full number was reached of both their fellow servants and their brothers who were going to be killed just as they had been.

For you became imitators, brothers and sisters, of God’s churches in Christ Jesus that are in Judea, because you too suffered the same things from your own countrymen as they in fact did from the Jews,who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets and persecuted us severely. They are displeasing to God and are opposed to all people,because they hinder us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. Thus they constantly fill up their measure of sins, but wrath has come upon them completely.

and they summoned the apostles and had them beaten. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus and released them.So they left the council rejoicing because they had been considered worthy to suffer dishonor for the sake of the name.

But if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but glorify God that you bear such a name.

“ For this reason I am sending you prophets and wise men and experts in the law, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town,

While they were trying to kill him, a report was sent up to the commanding officer of the cohort that all Jerusalem was in confusion.He immediately took soldiers and centurions and ran down to the crowd. When they saw the commanding officer and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.

‘ I know where you live– where Satan’s throne is. Yet you continue to cling to my name and you have not denied your faith in me, even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was killed in your city where Satan lives.

I replied,‘ Lord, they themselves know that I imprisoned and beat those in the various synagogues who believed in you.And when the blood of your witness Stephen was shed, I myself was standing nearby, approving, and guarding the cloaks of those who were killing him.’Then he said to me,‘ Go, because I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”The crowd was listening to him until he said this. Then they raised their voices and shouted,“ Away with this man from the earth! For he should not be allowed to live!”

They continued to stone Stephen while he prayed,“ Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!”

angry because they were teaching the people and announcing in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.So they seized them and put them in jail until the next day( for it was already evening).

About that time King Herod laid hands on some from the church to harm them.He had James, the brother of John, executed with a sword.When he saw that this pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter too.( This took place during the feast of Unleavened Bread.)When he had seized him, he put him in prison, handing him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him. Herod planned to bring him out for public trial after the Passover.So Peter was kept in prison, but those in the church were earnestly praying to God for him.

The rest seized his slaves, insolently mistreated them, and killed them.
