If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.Remember the word that I said to you,‘ A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you as well; if they followed My word, they will follow yours also.

But you will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, other relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death,and you will be hated by all people because of My name.

Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

“ But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, turning you over to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors on account of My name.

“ But be on your guard; for they will hand you over to the courts, and you will be flogged in the synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them.And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations.And when they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you at that time; for you are not the ones speaking, but it is the Holy Spirit.And brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.And you will be hated by everyone because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.

But be on guard against people, for they will hand you over to the courts and flog you in their synagogues;and you will even be brought before governors and kings on My account, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given you in that hour.For it is not you who are speaking, but it is the Spirit of your Father who is speaking in you.“ Now brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death.And you will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.

I said to him,“ My lord, you know.” And he said to me,“ These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained;and they cried out with a loud voice, saying,“ How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who live on the earth?”And a white robe was given to each of them; and they were told that they were to rest for a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers and sisters who were to be killed even as they had been, was completed also.

For you, brothers and sisters, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea, for you also endured the same sufferings at the hands of your own countrymen, even as they did from the Jews,who both killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out. They are not pleasing to God, but hostile to all people,hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved; with the result that they always reach the limit of their sins. But wrath has come upon them fully.

They followed his advice; and after calling the apostles in, they flogged them and ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and then released them.So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name.

For I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’ ”They listened to him up to this statement, and then they raised their voices and said,“ Away with such a man from the earth, for he should not be allowed to live!”

They went on stoning Stephen as he called on the Lord and said,“ Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!”

being greatly disturbed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.And they laid hands on them and put them in prison until the next day, for it was already evening.
