“ Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.

“ Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.

“ So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.

Therefore be alert, since you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.

Watch therefore: for ye know not on what day your Lord cometh.

“ Therefore stay alert, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.

Watch therefore, for you don’t know in what hour your Lord comes.

But stay alert at all times, praying that you will have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

so then, let’s not sleep as others do, but let’s be alert and sober.

Be on the alert then, because you do not know the day nor the hour.

“ But about that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

(“ Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes, so that he will not walk about naked and people will not see his shame.”)

Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.

Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we first believed.

“ Be prepared, and keep your lamps lit.You are also to be like people who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that they may immediately open the door for him when he comes and knocks.Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find on the alert when he comes; truly I say to you, that he will prepare himself to serve, and have them recline at the table, and he will come up and serve them.Whether he comes in the second watch, or even in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those slaves.“ But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have allowed his house to be broken into.You too, be ready; because the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not think He will.”

Then He* said to them,“ My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me.”And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying,“ My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.”And He* came to the disciples and* found them sleeping, and He* said to Peter,“ So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour?Keep watching and praying, so that you do not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer.

For this reason you must be ready as well; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.

Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Be constantly alert, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God.So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Then if you are not alert, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.

“ Watch out, stay alert; for you do not know when the appointed time is.It is like a man away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay alert.Therefore, stay alert— for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning—so that he does not come suddenly and find you asleep.What I say to you I say to all:‘ Stay alert!’ ”
