事實上，所有作惡的人，都憎恨光，不來到光那裡，免得自己的行為被揭露出來；

如果你說：「看哪，我不知道這事！」難道衡量人心的那一位不了解嗎？難道守護你靈魂的那一位不知道嗎？難道他不照著各人所做的回報各人嗎？

『看吧，你們這些好譏誚的人哪！驚奇吧，滅亡吧！因為在你們的時代裡，我要做一件事，就算有人向你們詳細說明，你們也絕不會相信。』」

挪亞的那些日子怎樣，人子的來臨也將要怎樣。

這樣的人不明白，也不領悟，因為耶和華蒙蔽他們的眼使他們不能看見，蒙蔽他們的心使他們不能明悟。他們不反思，也沒有知識和聰慧來說：「我用一半的木頭燒火，又在火炭上烘餅，烤肉吃。我怎麼能用剩下的木頭製造可憎之物呢？我怎麼能向一塊木頭膜拜呢？」

所以他把猛烈的怒火和慘烈的戰火都傾瀉在以色列身上；火就在他們四圍燒起，他們卻不明白，火燒著了他們，他們也不放在心上。

義人明白貧弱者的爭訟，惡人卻無知、不能領悟。

而且，他們要將你和你裡面的兒女猛摔在地，不容你裡面有一塊石頭留在另一塊石頭上，因為你沒有認出神臨到你的時候。」

我之所以用比喻對他們說，是因為他們雖然看了，卻看不見；聽了，卻聽不進，也不領悟。在他們身上，正應驗了以賽亞的預言，他說：『你們將聽了又聽，但絕不會領悟；你們將看了又看，但絕不會明白；因為這子民的心麻木了，他們充耳不聞，眼睛閉著；免得他們眼睛看見，耳朵聽見，心裡領悟，回轉過來，我就使他們痊癒。』

既然人不願意真正認識神，神就任憑他們存敗壞的理性，去做那些不該做的事。

他們故意忽略這一點：就是從太古的時候，藉著神的話語有了諸天，也有了從水而出、藉水而成的大地；

「他們打我，我不疼痛；他們擊打我，我也不知道。我什麼時候醒來呢？我還要繼續尋找酒。」
