以期優遊於光天化日之下乎？醉生夢死、沉湎酒色、嫉妒鬥狠、皆非所宜。務須服膺吾主耶穌基督、有如衣之被體。毋汲汲以滿足情慾為事也。

客同聲辭謝；首曰：「予置一地、必須往視、請辭。」次曰：「予購十牛、須往試之、請辭。」又一人曰：「予方新婚、不克赴筵。」

尚其慎旃！莫使爾之心靈、困於酒食、蔽於世慮；蓋彼日將突然臨爾、有如陷穽、天網恢恢、

倘是僕意謂「吾主必徐徐而歸、」於是擅扑僮婢、飲食酩酊、

蓋復活後、不娶不嫁、一如主之天神。

吾將寬慰吾魂曰：「魂乎、爾有豐財、足供餘年、此後可安心飲食、姿爾宴樂。」

第有一語、不得不為兄弟告者、即人生在世、為日無多；故有妻當若無妻、有憂當若無憂、有樂當若無樂、有財當若無財、用世當若遺世；蓋斯世之形形色色、皆如雲煙過眼、瞬即杳矣。
