挪亞的時代怎樣，人子的時代也是怎樣。當時人們吃喝嫁娶，直到挪亞進入方舟的那一天，洪水來了，把他們全都滅掉。在羅得的時代也是這樣，人們吃喝買賣，耕種建造，

行事為人要光明磊落，好像行在白晝。不可荒宴醉酒，不可放蕩縱慾，不可紛爭嫉妒。總要披戴主耶穌基督，不要為肉體安排，去放縱私慾。

眾人一致推辭，頭一個說：‘我買了一塊地，不得不去看一看，請原諒我。’另一個說：‘我買了五對牛，要去試一試，請原諒我。’又一個說：‘我剛結了婚，不能去。’

“你們應當自己小心，免得在貪食醉酒和生活的掛慮壓住你們的心的時候，那日子突然臨到你們，

神的眾子看見人的女子美麗，就隨意挑選，娶作妻子。

亞比該到了拿八那裡，他正在家中擺設筵席，好像帝王的筵席一樣。拿八心裡暢快，喝得爛醉如泥，所以無論大事小事亞比該都沒有告訴他，直到第二天早晨。到了早晨，拿八酒醒了，他的妻子才把這些事告訴他，他就嚇得魂不附體，立刻中風癱瘓了。大約過了十天，耶和華擊打拿八，他就死了。

如果那僕人心裡說：‘我的主人不會那麼快回來’，就動手打其他的僕人使女，並且吃喝醉酒；

你妹妹所多瑪的罪孽是這樣：她和她的女兒們都驕傲自大，糧食豐足，生活安逸，卻沒有幫助困苦和貧窮的人。她們自高自傲，在我面前行了可憎的事；我看見了，就把她們除掉。

復活的時候，人們也不娶也不嫁，而是像天上的使者一樣。

然後，我要對我的靈魂說：靈魂啊，你擁有許多好東西，足夠多年享用，只管安安逸逸地吃喝快樂吧！’

到那日，主萬軍之耶和華叫人哭泣哀號，剃光頭髮，穿上麻布。看哪！人還是歡喜快樂，宰牛殺羊，吃肉喝酒，說：“我們吃喝吧！因為明天我們就要死了。”萬軍之耶和華親自啟示我說：“直到你們死的時候，這罪孽也不得赦免。”這是主萬軍之耶和華說的。

挪亞帶著他的兒子、妻子和兒媳一同進了方舟，躲避洪水。

你們認為災禍的日子離開很遠，你們的行為卻招致殘暴的審判。你們臥在象牙床上，躺在榻上；你們吃羊群中的羊羔，和牛棚裡的牛犢。你們閒逸地彈琴奏樂，又為自己製造樂器，像大衛一樣。你們用大碗喝酒，用最貴重的膏油抹身；但你們並沒有為約瑟的敗落而痛心。

弟兄們，我是說時候不多了。從今以後，有妻子的要像沒有妻子的，哀哭的要像不哀哭的，快樂的要像不快樂的，買了東西的要像一無所得的，享用世上百物的要像沒有享用的一樣，因為這世上的情況都要過去。

他帶大衛下去。匪徒們都分散在各處，正在吃喝、跳舞，因為他們從非利士地和猶大地搶來的戰利品很多。大衛擊殺他們，從黃昏直到次日的晚上。除了四百個騎駱駝的年輕人逃跑了以外，他們當中一個人也沒有逃脫。
