Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said,“ Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?”

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what[ shall be] the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

He replied,“ The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know.

Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives across the valley from the Temple. Peter, James, John, and Andrew came to him privately and asked him,“ Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will show us that these things are about to be fulfilled?”

As Jesus and the disciples approached Jerusalem, they came to the town of Bethphage on the Mount of Olives. Jesus sent two of them on ahead.

If that had been necessary, Christ would have had to die again and again, ever since the world began. But now, once for all time, he has appeared at the end of the age to remove sin by his own death as a sacrifice.

One of them asked the man dressed in linen, who was now standing above the river,“ How long will it be until these shocking events are over?”The man dressed in linen, who was standing above the river, raised both his hands toward heaven and took a solemn oath by the One who lives forever, saying,“ It will go on for a time, times, and half a time. When the shattering of the holy people has finally come to an end, all these things will have happened.”I heard what he said, but I did not understand what he meant. So I asked,“ How will all this finally end, my lord?”

Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into.

“ When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day.

The enemy who planted the weeds among the wheat is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world, and the harvesters are the angels.“ Just as the weeds are sorted out and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the world.

“ Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near.In the same way, when you see all these things, you can know his return is very near, right at the door.

For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes.

That is the way it will be at the end of the world. The angels will come and separate the wicked people from the righteous,

Now concerning how and when all this will happen, dear brothers and sisters, we don’t really need to write you.For you know quite well that the day of the Lord’s return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night.When people are saying,“ Everything is peaceful and secure,” then disaster will fall on them as suddenly as a pregnant woman’s labor pains begin. And there will be no escape.But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief.For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night.So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.Night is the time when people sleep and drinkers get drunk.But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation.For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us.Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever.So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Peter asked Jesus,“ What about him, Lord?”Jesus replied,“ If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? As for you, follow me.”

“ Teacher,” they asked,“ when will all this happen? What sign will show us that these things are about to take place?”

Afterward the disciples asked Jesus privately,“ Why couldn’t we cast out that demon?”

People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.

Then, leaving the crowds outside, Jesus went into the house. His disciples said,“ Please explain to us the story of the weeds in the field.”

Then the disciples came to him and asked,“ Do you realize you offended the Pharisees by what you just said?”

His disciples came and asked him,“ Why do you use parables when you talk to the people?”He replied,“ You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not.
