As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately.“ Tell us,” they said,“ when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said,“ Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?”

While he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately and said,“ Tell us, when will these things happen? And what is the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

And as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying,“ Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

And as he sat on the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

While He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached Him privately and said,“ Tell us, when will these things happen? And what is the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?”

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what[ shall be] the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

耶穌回答說：「天父照祂的權柄定下的時間、日期不是你們可以知道的。

耶穌面向聖殿坐在橄欖山上，彼得、雅各、約翰和安得烈私下來問祂：「請告訴我們，這些事什麼時候會發生？有什麼預兆？」

耶穌和門徒離耶路撒冷越來越近了，他們來到橄欖山旁的伯法其。

否則，自創世以來，祂不知道要受難多少次了。但如今在這世代的末期，祂只一次獻上自己，便除去了人的罪。

其中一人問身穿細麻衣、站在河水之上的人：「這奇異的事何時才應驗呢？」我聽見身穿細麻衣、站在河水之上的人向天舉起雙手，憑永活者起誓說：「再過三年半，等摧毀聖民的權勢結束時，這一切事都要成就。」我聽見這話，卻不明白，就問他：「我主啊，這些事的結局會怎樣呢？」

你們都知道，如果一家的主人知道賊會在半夜幾點來，就必警醒，不讓賊入屋偷竊。

人子降臨時的情形就像挪亞的時代。

撒毒麥的仇敵就是魔鬼。收割的日子便是世界的末日，收割的工人就是天使。「毒麥怎樣被拔出來丟在火裡燒，同樣，在世界末日的時候，

「你們可以從無花果樹學個道理。當無花果樹發芽長葉的時候，你們就知道夏天快來了。同樣，當你們看見這一切事發生時，就知道人子快來了，就在門口。

人子降臨時的情形就像閃電從東方發出一直照到西方。

世界末日的時候也是這樣。天使必把惡人從義人中揀出來，

弟兄姊妹，這件事會在什麼日期、什麼時候發生，不必我寫信告訴你們，因為你們已經清楚知道，將來有一天，主會突然來到，像賊在夜裡忽然出現一樣。當人們正在說一切平安穩妥的時候，災禍會像產痛臨到孕婦一樣突然臨到他們，令他們無法逃脫。然而，弟兄姊妹，你們不是活在黑暗裡，因此那日子不會像賊一樣突然臨到你們。你們都是光明之子，白晝之子。我們既不屬於黑夜，也不屬於黑暗。所以不要像其他人一樣沉睡，要警醒戒備，因為睡覺的人是在夜裡睡，醉酒的人是在夜裡醉。我們既屬於白晝，就應當保持清醒，要把信心和愛心當作護心鏡遮胸，把得救的盼望當作頭盔戴上。因為上帝不是預定我們受懲罰，而是預定我們靠著主耶穌基督得救。主替我們死，使我們無論是醒是睡，都可以與祂同活。所以，你們要彼此鼓勵、互相造就，正如你們一向所做的。

教導他們遵守我吩咐你們的一切。記住，我必常與你們同在，一直到世界的末了。」

彼得問耶穌：「主啊！他將來會怎樣呢？」耶穌說：「如果我要他活到我再來，與你有什麼關係？你只管跟從我吧！」

他們問：「老師，這些事什麼時候會發生呢？發生的時候有什麼預兆呢？」

事後，門徒私下問耶穌：「我們為什麼趕不走那鬼呢？」

他們懵然不知，直到洪水來把他們全沖走了。人子降臨時的情形也是這樣。

後來，耶穌離開人群，進到屋裡。門徒也跟著進去，對耶穌說：「請為我們解釋毒麥的比喻。」

門徒上前對祂說：「你知道嗎？法利賽人聽見你的話很反感。」

門徒上前問耶穌：「你為什麼要用比喻來教導他們呢？」耶穌回答說：「天國的奧祕只讓你們知道，不讓他們知道。
