電光怎樣從天這邊一閃，直照到天那邊，人子在他的日子也是這樣。但他必須先受許多苦，被這個世代棄絕。挪亞的時代怎樣，人子的時代也是怎樣。當時人們吃喝嫁娶，直到挪亞進入方舟的那一天，洪水來了，把他們全都滅掉。在羅得的時代也是這樣，人們吃喝買賣，耕種建造，直到羅得離開所多瑪的那一天，火與硫磺從天上降下來，把他們全都滅掉。人子顯現的日子也是這樣。當那日，人在房頂上，器具在屋裡，不要下來拿；在田裡的，照樣不要回家。應當記著羅得的妻子的教訓。凡是想保全生命的，必喪掉生命；凡是犧牲生命的，卻必保全生命。我告訴你們，當那夜，兩個人在一張床上，一個被接去，一個被撇下。兩個女人一起推磨，一個被接去，一個被撇下。”（有些抄本有第36節：“兩個人在田裡，一個被接去，一個撇下來。”）

耶和華必在他子民頭上顯現，他的箭必像閃電一般射出；主耶和華必吹起號角，乘著南方的暴風而行。

可是，他來的日子，誰能當得起呢？他顯現的時候，誰能站立得住呢？因為他像煉金之人的火，又像漂布之人的鹼。

挪亞的時代怎樣，人子降臨的時候也是這樣。

我實在告訴你們，站在這裡的，有人在沒有嘗過死味以前，必要看見人子帶著他的國降臨。”

“看哪！在耶和華大而可畏的日子來到以先，我必差派以利亞先知到你們那裡去。

等到洪水來到，把他們沖去，他們才明白過來；人子降臨的時候也是這樣。

耶和華必使人聽見他威嚴的聲音，在烈怒、吞滅一切火燄、大雨、暴風和冰雹之中，又使人看見他那降下來的膀臂。

他發雷聲響遍天下，也發電光閃到地極。

“他要降臨的應許在哪裡呢？因為自從列祖睡了以來，萬物依然存在，與起初創造的時候一樣。”

你能差派閃電，閃電就發出，並且對你說：‘我們在這裡’嗎？

耶穌回答：“狐狸有洞，天空的飛鳥有窩，但人子卻沒有棲身﹙“棲身”原文作“枕頭”。﹚的地方。”

耶穌坐在橄欖山上，門徒暗中前來問他：“請告訴我們，甚麼時候會有這些事呢？你的降臨和這世代的終結，有甚麼預兆呢？”

你們也應當忍耐，堅定自己的心；因為主再來的日子近了。
