一七之内，他必和许多人坚立盟约；一七之半，他必使献祭和供物终止；他必在殿里（“殿里”原文作“翼上”）；设立那使地荒凉的可憎的像（“可憎的像”原文是复数），直到指定的结局倾倒在那造成荒凉的人身上。”

从废除常献祭，并设立那使地荒凉的可憎的像的时候起，必有一千二百九十天。

“当你们看见‘那造成荒凉的可憎者’，站在不该站的地方（读者必须领悟），那时，住在犹太的应当逃到山上；

“当你们看见耶路撒冷被军队围困的时候，就知道它荒凉的日子近了。

他的军队必起来，亵渎圣殿，就是那堡垒，废除常献祭，又在殿里设立了那使地荒凉的可憎的像。

日子将到，你的仇敌必筑垒攻击你，周围环绕你，四面困住你，

读这书上预言的人，和那些听见这预言并且遵守书中记载的人，都是有福的！因为时候近了。

你开始恳求的时候，就有命令发出。因为你是大蒙眷爱的，所以我来告诉你；你要留意这信息，明白这异象。

你要知道，也要明白，从发出命令恢复和重建耶路撒冷，直到受膏君的时候，必有七个七；又有六十二个七（“必有七个七；又有六十二个七”或译：“必有七个七和六十二个七”），耶路撒冷连广场和濠沟，都必重新建造起来；那是一段困苦的时期。

他又对我说：“但以理啊！不要惧怕，因为自从你第一天决心要明白这些事，又在你的神面前谦卑自己，你祷告的话已蒙垂听了；我就是因你祷告的话而来的。但波斯国的护卫天使拦阻我二十一天；后来有护卫天使长中的一位米迦勒来帮助我，我就留他在那里（按照《马索拉文本》，“我就留他在那里”应作“我就被留在那里”；现参照《七十士译本》翻译），和波斯众王在一起。现在我来是要使你明白日后所要发生在你的同胞身上的事，因为这异象是关于将来许多的年日的。”

因此，我们必须更加密切注意所听过的道理，免得我们随流失去。

并且造了假的证供说：“这人不断抨击圣地和律法。

喊叫着说：“以色列人哪，快来帮忙！这个人到处教导众人反对人民，反对律法和这个地方，他甚至把希腊人也带进殿里，污秽了这圣地。”

那人对我说：“人子啊！我所要指示你的，你都要用眼看，用耳听，并要放在心上，因为我带你到这里来，为的是要指示你；你所看见的，你都要告诉以色列家。”

圣灵向众教会所说的话，有耳的就应当听。’”

我们若让他这样，所有的人都会信他，罗马人就会来，夺取我们的圣地，除灭我们的民族。”
