『經學士和法利賽人、假冒為善的人哪，你們有禍啊！因為你們潔淨杯盤的外面；裏面呢、卻滿了勒索和放縱。

「經文士和法利賽人哪，你們這些偽善的人有禍了！因為你們洗淨杯子、盤子的外面，裡面卻盛滿了貪心和放縱。

禍哉、爾偽善之士子與法利賽人乎、以爾潔杯盤之外、而內充以劫奪邪侈也、

偽善之士子、𠵽唎㘔人、其有禍乎、以爾潔杯盤之外、而劫奪非義充其內、

禍哉爾偽善之經士與法利賽人、因爾潔杯盤之外、內則充滿劫奪及非義、

哀哉爾經生與法利塞人、虛偽之徒也！蓋爾第潔杯盤之表、而內充貪污邪欲。

“ What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy— full of greed and self indulgence!

主对他说：“你们法利赛人洗净杯盘的外面，你们里面却充满了贪婪和邪恶。愚蠢的人啊，人里外不都是上帝所创造的吗？

因为从心里出来的有恶念、谋杀、通奸、淫乱、偷盗、假见证和毁谤，这些东西才使人污秽。不洗手吃饭并不会使人污秽。”

从市场回来也要先洁净自己，然后才吃饭。他们还拘守许多其他规矩，如洗杯、罐、铜器等。他们质问耶稣：“为什么你的门徒违背祖先的传统，竟用不洁净的手吃饭呢？”耶稣回答说：“以赛亚先知针对你们这些伪君子所说的预言一点不错，正如圣经上说，“‘这些人嘴上尊崇我，心却远离我。他们的教导无非是人的规条，他们敬拜我也是枉然。’你们只知拘守人的传统，却无视上帝的诫命。”耶稣又对他们说：“你们为了拘守自己的传统，竟巧妙地废除了上帝的诫命。摩西说，‘要孝敬父母’，又说，‘咒骂父母的，必被处死。’你们却认为人若对父母说，‘我把供养你们的钱财已经全部奉献给上帝了’，他就可以不奉养父母。你们就是这样为了拘守传统而废除上帝的道，类似的情形还有很多。”

但祭司和先知也因喝酒而摇摇晃晃，因烈酒而东倒西歪。他们因烈酒而摇摇晃晃、酩酊大醉、东倒西歪，他们错解异象，糊涂判案。桌子上到处都是呕吐之物，一片狼藉。
