Blind guides! You strain your water so you won’t accidentally swallow a gnat, but you swallow a camel!

Now the scribes and the Pharisees were watching Him closely to see if He healed on the Sabbath, so that they might find a reason to accuse Him.But He knew what they were thinking, and He said to the man with the withered hand,“ Get up and come forward!” And he got up and came forward.And Jesus said to them,“ I ask you whether it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do harm, to save a life or to destroy it?”And after looking around at them all, He said to him,“ Stretch out your hand!” And he did so; and his hand was restored.

The chief priests took the pieces of silver and said,“ It is not lawful to put them in the temple treasury, since it is money paid for blood.”And they conferred together and with the money bought the Potter’s Field as a burial place for strangers.For this reason that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day.

“ Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”And He answered and said to them,“ Why do you yourselves also break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?For God said,‘ Honor your father and mother,’ and,‘ The one who speaks evil of father or mother is to be put to death.’But you say,‘ Whoever says to his father or mother,“ Whatever I have that would help you has been given to God,”he is not to honor his father or mother.’ And by this you have invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition.

Or how can you say to your brother,‘ Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and look, the log is in your own eye?

So they shouted again, saying,“ Not this Man, but Barabbas.” Now Barabbas was a rebel.

“ Woe to you, blind guides, who say,‘ Whoever swears by the temple, that is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple is obligated.’

Then they* brought Jesus from Caiaphas into the Praetorium, and it was early; and they themselves did not enter the Praetorium, so that they would not be defiled, but might eat the Passover.
