“ Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price.Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance.

My people are bent on backsliding from Me. Though they call to the Most High, None at all exalt Him.

But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

But to Israel he says:“ All day long I have stretched out My hands To a disobedient and contrary people.”

Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded,Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke,I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes,When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.“ Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me.Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord,They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke.Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own fancies.For the turning away of the simple will slay them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them;

As they called them, So they went from them; They sacrificed to the Baals, And burned incense to carved images.

But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.’”

“ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!

As soon as you come into the city, you will surely find him before he goes up to the high place to eat. For the people will not eat until he comes, because he must bless the sacrifice; afterward those who are invited will eat. Now therefore, go up, for about this time you will find him.”

And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits.He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staff— no bag, no bread, no copper in their money belts—but to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics.Also He said to them,“ In whatever place you enter a house, stay there till you depart from that place.And whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!”

and saying,“ Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”

“ But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him.

Wisdom has built her house, She has hewn out her seven pillars;She has slaughtered her meat, She has mixed her wine, She has also furnished her table.She has sent out her maidens, She cries out from the highest places of the city,

“ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

Now when one of those who sat at the table with Him heard these things, he said to Him,“ Blessed is he who shall eat bread in the kingdom of God!”Then He said to him,“ A certain man gave a great supper and invited many,and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited,‘ Come, for all things are now ready.’

And the Lord has sent to you all His servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, but you have not listened nor inclined your ear to hear.

For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel:“ In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” But you would not,

But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.And as you go, preach, saying,‘ The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’

The Lord gave the word; Great was the company of those who proclaimed it:

See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven,
