“ He will destroy those evil people,” they replied.“ Then he will rent the vineyard out to other renters. They will give him his share of the crop at harvest time.”

They said to him,“ He will put those wretches to a miserable death and let out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons.”

The religious leaders replied,“ He will put the wicked men to a horrible death and lease the vineyard to others who will give him his share of the crop after each harvest.”

“ He will completely destroy those terrible men,” they told him,“ and lease his vineyard to other farmers who will give him his fruit at the harvest.”

They said to Him,“ He will destroy those wicked men miserably, and lease his vineyard to other vinedressers who will render to him the fruits in their seasons.”

They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will let out the vineyard unto other husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

“ He will completely destroy those terrible men,” they told Him,“ and lease his vineyard to other farmers who will give him his produce at the harvest.”

They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out[ his] vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

They said to him,“ He will utterly destroy those evil men! Then he will lease the vineyard to other tenants who will give him his portion at the harvest.”

They told him,“ He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will lease out the vineyard to other farmers, who will give him the fruit in its season.”

But when they resisted and blasphemed, he shook out his garments and said to them,“ Your blood is on your own heads! I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”

Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruit.

Therefore, let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will also listen.”

He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying,

and for the Gentiles to glorify God for His mercy; as it is written:“ Therefore I will give praise to You among the Gentiles, And I will sing praises to Your name.”Again he says,“ Rejoice, you Gentiles, with His people.”And again,“ Praise the Lord all you Gentiles, And let all the peoples praise Him.”Again Isaiah says,“ There shall come the root of Jesse, And He who arises to rule over the Gentiles, In Him will the Gentiles hope.”Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.And concerning you, my brothers and sisters, I myself also am convinced that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge and able also to admonish one another.But I have written very boldly to you on some points so as to remind you again, because of the grace that was given to me from God,to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, ministering as a priest the gospel of God, so that my offering of the Gentiles may become acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.Therefore in Christ Jesus I have found reason for boasting in things pertaining to God.For I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me, resulting in the obedience of the Gentiles by word and deed,

And it happened that the father of Publius was lying in bed afflicted with a recurring fever and dysentery. Paul went in to see him, and after he prayed, he laid his hands on him and healed him.

“ For behold, the day is coming, burning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be chaff; and the day that is coming will set them ablaze,” says the Lord of armies,“ so that it will leave them neither root nor branches.But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and frolic like calves from the stall.And you will crush the wicked underfoot, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I am preparing,” says the Lord of armies.“ Remember the Law of Moses My servant, the statutes and ordinances which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel.“ Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord.He will turn the hearts of the fathers back to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, so that I will not come and strike the land with complete destruction.”

hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved; with the result that they always reach the limit of their sins. But wrath has come upon them fully.

You will leave your name as a curse to My chosen ones, And the Lord God will put you to death. But My servants will be called by another name.

You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.’ ”

And now says the Lord, who formed Me from the womb to be His Servant, To bring Jacob back to Him, so that Israel might be gathered to Him( For I am honored in the sight of the Lord, And My God is My strength),He says,“ It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the protected ones of Israel; I will also make You a light of the nations So that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”This is what the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and its Holy One, Says to the despised One, To the One abhorred by the nation, To the Servant of rulers:“ Kings will see and arise, Princes will also bow down, Because of the Lord who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen You.”

Then I did away with the three shepherds in one month, for my soul was impatient with them, and their soul also was tired of me.Then I said,“ I will not pasture you. What is to die, let it die, and what is to perish, let it perish; and let those who are left eat one another’s flesh.”And I took my staff Favor and cut it in pieces, to break my covenant which I had made with all the peoples.

and the rest seized his slaves and treated them abusively, and then killed them.Now the king was angry, and he sent his armies and destroyed those murderers and set their city on fire.

because these are days of punishment, so that all things which have been written will be fulfilled.Woe to those women who are pregnant, and to those who are nursing babies in those days; for there will be great distress upon the land, and wrath to this people;and they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will again.And if those days had not been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.

Then after the sixty two weeks, the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.

And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven;but the sons of the kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

And I will put a sign among them and send survivors from them to the nations: Tarshish, Put, Lud, Meshech, Tubal, and Javan, to the distant coastlands that have neither heard of My fame nor seen My glory. And they will declare My glory among the nations.Then they shall bring all your countrymen from all the nations as a grain offering to the Lord, on horses, in chariots, in litters, on mules, and on camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the Lord,“ just as the sons of Israel bring their grain offering in a clean vessel to the house of the Lord.I will also take some of them as priests and Levites,” says the Lord.

And the master said to the slave,‘ Go out into the roads and the hedges and press upon them to come in, so that my house will be filled.For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste my dinner.’ ”

Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said,“ It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first. Since you repudiate it and consider yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.For so the Lord has commanded us,‘ I have appointed You as a light to the Gentiles, That You may bring salvation to the end of the earth.’ ”When the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord; and all who had been appointed to eternal life believed.

The land will mourn, every family by itself; the family of the house of David by itself and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Nathan by itself and their wives by themselves;

After there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them,“ Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles would hear the word of the gospel and believe.

See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns us from heaven.

And it will come about in all the land,” Declares the Lord,“ That two parts in it will be cut off and perish; But the third will be left in it.

‘ But if you do not obey Me and do not carry out all these commandments,if, instead, you reject My statutes, and if your soul loathes My ordinances so as not to carry out all My commandments, but rather to break My covenant,I, in turn, will do this to you: I will summon a sudden terror against you, consumption and fever that will make the eyes fail and the soul languish; also, you will sow your seed uselessly, for your enemies will eat it.And I will set My face against you so that you will be defeated before your enemies; and those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee when no one is pursuing you.If also after these things you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.I will also break down your pride of power; and I will make your sky like iron and your earth like bronze.Your strength will be consumed uselessly, for your land will not yield its produce and the trees of the land will not yield their fruit.‘ Yet if you show hostility toward Me and are unwilling to obey Me, I will increase the plague on you seven times according to your sins.I will also let loose among you the animals of the field, which will deprive you of your children and eliminate your cattle, and reduce your number so that your roads become deserted.‘ And if by these things you do not learn your lesson regarding Me, but you show hostility toward Me,then I in turn will show hostility toward you; and I, even I, will strike you seven times for your sins.I will also bring upon you a sword which will execute vengeance for the covenant; and when you gather together into your cities, I will send a plague among you, so that you will be handed over to the enemy.When I break your staff of bread, ten women will bake your bread in one oven, and they will bring back your bread in rationed amounts, so that you will eat and not be satisfied.‘ Yet if in spite of this you do not obey Me, but act with hostility against Me,then I will act with wrathful hostility against you, and I for My part will punish you seven times for your sins.Further, you will eat the flesh of your sons, and you will eat the flesh of your daughters.I then will destroy your high places, and cut down your incense altars, and pile your remains on the remains of your idols, for My soul will loathe you.I will turn your cities into ruins as well and make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will not smell your soothing aromas.And I will make the land desolate so that your enemies who settle in it will be appalled at it.You, however, I will scatter among the nations, and I will draw out a sword after you, as your land becomes desolate and your cities become ruins.‘ Then the land will restore its Sabbaths all the days of the desolation, while you are in your enemies’ land; then the land will rest and restore its Sabbaths.All the days of its desolation it will have the rest which it did not have on your Sabbaths, while you were living on it.As for those among you who are left, I will also bring despair into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. And the sound of a scattered leaf will chase them, and even when no one is pursuing they will flee as though from the sword, and they will fall.They will then stumble over each other as if running from the sword, although no one is pursuing; and you will have no strength to stand before your enemies.Instead, you will perish among the nations, and your enemies’ land will consume you.So those of you who may be left will rot away because of their wrongdoing in the lands of your enemies; and also because of the wrongdoing of their forefathers they will rot away with them.‘ But if they confess their wrongdoing and the wrongdoing of their forefathers, in their unfaithfulness which they committed against Me, and also in their acting with hostility against Me—I also was acting with hostility against them, to bring them into the land of their enemies— or if their uncircumcised heart is humbled so that they then make amends for their wrongdoing,then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and I will remember also My covenant with Isaac, and My covenant with Abraham as well, and I will remember the land.For the land will be abandoned by them, and will restore its Sabbaths while it is made desolate without them. They, meanwhile, will be making amends for their wrongdoing, because they rejected My ordinances and their soul loathed My statutes.Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, nor will I so loathe them as to destroy them, breaking My covenant with them; for I am the Lord their God.But I will remember for them the covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, so that I might be their God. I am the Lord.’ ”These are the statutes and ordinances and laws which the Lord established between Himself and the sons of Israel through Moses on Mount Sinai.

His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor; and He will gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

then the Lord will bring extraordinary plagues on you and your descendants, severe and lasting plagues, and miserable and chronic sicknesses.And He will bring back on you every disease of Egypt of which you were afraid, and they will cling to you.Also every sickness and every plague, which are not written in the book of this Law, the Lord will bring on you until you are destroyed.Then you will be left few in number, whereas you were as numerous as the stars of heaven, because you did not obey the Lord your God.And it will come about that, just as the Lord rejoiced over you to be good to you, and make you numerous, so will the Lord rejoice over you to wipe you out and destroy you; and you will be torn away from the land which you are entering to possess.Furthermore, the Lord will scatter you among all the peoples, from one end of the earth to the other; and there you will serve other gods, made of wood and stone, which you and your fathers have not known.Among those nations you will find no peace, and there will be no resting place for the sole of your foot; but there the Lord will give you a trembling heart, failing of eyes, and despair of soul.So your lives will be hanging in doubt before you; and you will be terrified night and day, and have no assurance of your life.In the morning you will say,‘ If only it were evening!’ And at evening you will say,‘ If only it were morning!’ because of the terror of your heart which you fear, and the sight of your eyes which you will see.And the Lord will bring you back to Egypt in ships, by the way about which I said to you,‘ You will never see it again!’ And there you will offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as male and female slaves, but there will be no buyer.”

so that upon you will fall the guilt of all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.Truly I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.“ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling.Behold, your house is being left to you desolate!

I am telling the truth in Christ, I am not lying; my conscience testifies with me in the Holy Spirit,that I have great sorrow and unceasing grief in my heart.For I could wish that I myself were accursed, separated from Christ for the sake of my countrymen, my kinsmen according to the flesh,who are Israelites, to whom belongs the adoption as sons and daughters, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the Law, the temple service, and the promises;whose are the fathers, and from whom is the Christ according to the flesh, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel;nor are they all children because they are Abraham’s descendants, but:“ through Isaac your descendants shall be named.”That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants.For this is the word of promise:“ At this time I will come, and Sarah will have a son.”And not only that, but there was also Rebekah, when she had conceived twins by one man, our father Isaac;for though the twins were not yet born and had not done anything good or bad, so that God’s purpose according to His choice would stand, not because of works but because of Him who calls,

So now let Me tell you what I am going to do to My vineyard: I will remove its hedge and it will be consumed; I will break down its wall and it will become trampled ground.I will lay it waste; It will not be pruned nor hoed, But briars and thorns will come up. I will also command the clouds not to rain on it.”For the vineyard of the Lord of armies is the house of Israel, And the people of Judah are His delightful plant. So He waited for justice, but behold, there was bloodshed; For righteousness, but behold, a cry for help.

For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be taken, the houses plundered, the women raped, and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be eliminated from the city.Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle.

In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown out.And they will come from east and west, and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God.

Remember Lot’s wife.Whoever strives to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will keep it.I tell you, on that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left.There will be two women grinding at the same place; one will be taken and the other will be left.[ Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other will be left.”]And responding, they* said to Him,“ Where, Lord?” And He said to them,“ Where the body is, there also the vultures will be gathered.”

When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it,saying,“ If you had known on this day, even you, the conditions for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes.For the days will come upon you when your enemies will put up a barricade against you, and surround you and hem you in on every side,and they will level you to the ground, and throw down your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”

how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard,
