「可是那些農夫看見他的兒子，就彼此說：『這是繼承人。來，我們把他殺了，占有他的繼業！』

農夫見其子、則相語曰、此其嗣子、且來殺之、據其業、

農夫見其子、則私語曰、此其嗣子、且來殺之、業可據矣、

園夫見其子、相語曰、此乃嗣子、盍來殺之、以據其業、

孰意園戶一見其子、乃共議曰：「斯乃厥嗣、我等盍共殺之、可佔其產：」

“ But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other,‘ This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and take his inheritance.’

“ But the renters saw the son coming. They said to one another,‘ This is the one who will receive all the owner’s property someday. Come, let’s kill him. Then everything will be ours.’

But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves,‘ This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and have his inheritance.’

“ But when the tenant farmers saw his son coming, they said to one another,‘ Here comes the heir to this estate. Come on, let’s kill him and get the estate for ourselves!’

But when the vine growers saw the son, they said among themselves,‘ This is the heir; come, let’s kill him and take possession of his inheritance!’

But when the vinedressers saw the son, they said among themselves,‘ This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.’

But the husbandmen, when they saw the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and take his inheritance.

“ But when the tenant farmers saw the son, they said among themselves,‘ This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and take his inheritance!’

But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.

But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves,‘ This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and get his inheritance!’

But the farmers, when they saw the son, said among themselves,‘ This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and seize his inheritance.’

They saw him in the distance, and before he had reached them, they plotted to kill him.They said to one another,“ Oh, look, here comes that dream expert!So now, come on, let’s kill him and throw him into one of the pits. We can say that a vicious animal ate him. Then we’ll see what becomes of his dreams!”

So the chief priests and the Pharisees convened the Sanhedrin and were saying,“ What are we going to do since this man is doing many signs?If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”One of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them,“ You know nothing at all!You’re not considering that it is to your advantage that one man should die for the people rather than the whole nation perish.”He did not say this on his own, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,and not for the nation only, but also to unite the scattered children of God.So from that day on they plotted to kill him.

“ For, in fact, in this city both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, assembled together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed,to do whatever your hand and your will had predestined to take place.

But those tenant farmers said to one another,‘ This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’So they seized him, killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard.

When daybreak came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people plotted against Jesus to put him to death.After tying him up, they led him away and handed him over to Pilate, the governor.

“ But when the tenant farmers saw him, they discussed it among themselves and said,‘ This is the heir. Let’s kill him, so that the inheritance will be ours.’

As the captain of the temple police and the chief priests heard these things, they were baffled about them, wondering what would come of this.Someone came and reported to them,“ Look! The men you put in jail are standing in the temple and teaching the people.”Then the commander went with the servants and brought them in without force, because they were afraid the people might stone them.After they brought them in, they had them stand before the Sanhedrin, and the high priest asked,“ Didn’t we strictly order you not to teach in this name? Look, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.”

Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the courtyard of the high priest, who was named Caiaphas,and they conspired to arrest Jesus in a treacherous way and kill him.

The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers conspire together against the LORD and his Anointed One:“ Let’s tear off their chains and throw their ropes off of us.”The one enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord ridicules them.Then he speaks to them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath:“ I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”I will declare the LORD’s decree. He said to me,“ You are my Son; today I have become your Father.Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance and the ends of the earth your possession.

After they were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying,“ Get up! Take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. For Herod is about to search for the child to kill him.”So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night, and escaped to Egypt.He stayed there until Herod’s death, so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled: Out of Egypt I called my Son.Then Herod, when he realized that he had been outwitted by the wise men, flew into a rage. He gave orders to massacre all the boys in and around Bethlehem who were two years old and under, in keeping with the time he had learned from the wise men.

In these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son. God has appointed him heir of all things and made the universe through him.
