And he began to speak unto the people this parable: A man planted a vineyard, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into another country for a long time.And at the season he sent unto the husbandmen a servant, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.And he sent yet another servant: and him also they beat, and handled him shamefully, and sent him away empty.And he sent yet a third: and him also they wounded, and cast him forth.And the lord of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; it may be they will reverence him.But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned one with another, saying, This is the heir; let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.And they cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do unto them?He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.But he looked upon them, and said, What then is this that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner?Every one that falleth on that stone shall be broken to pieces; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will scatter him as dust.And the scribes and the chief priests sought to lay hands on him in that very hour; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he spake this parable against them.

And he began to speak unto them in parables. I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the degenerate branches of a foreign vine unto me?

Solomon had a vineyard at Baal- hamon; He let out the vineyard unto keepers; Every one for the fruit thereof was to bring a thousand pieces of silver.My vineyard, which is mine, is before me: Thou, O Solomon, shalt have the thousand, And those that keep the fruit thereof two hundred.

But what think ye? A man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to- day in the vineyard.

And of Levi he said, Thy Thummim and thy Urim are with thy godly one, Whom thou didst prove at Massah, With whom thou didst strive at the waters of Meribah;Who said of his father, and of his mother, I have not seen him; Neither did he acknowledge his brethren, Nor knew he his own children: For they have observed thy word, And keep thy covenant.They shall teach Jacob thine ordinances, And Israel thy law: They shall put incense before thee, And whole burnt- offering upon thine altar.

Hear then ye the parable of the sower.

He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country, to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, according to thy tribes; and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.

It is as when a man, sojourning in another country, having left his house, and given authority to his servants, to each one his work, commanded also the porter to watch.

and thou shalt come unto the priests the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in those days: and thou shalt inquire; and they shall show thee the sentence of judgment.And thou shalt do according to the tenor of the sentence which they shall show thee from that place which Jehovah shall choose; and thou shalt observe to do according to all that they shall teach thee:according to the tenor of the law which they shall teach thee, and according to the judgment which they shall tell thee, thou shalt do; thou shalt not turn aside from the sentence which they shall show thee, to the right hand, nor to the left.And the man that doeth presumptuously, in not hearkening unto the priest that standeth to minister there before Jehovah thy God, or unto the judge, even that man shall die: and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel.

Thou broughtest a vine out of Egypt: Thou didst drive out the nations, and plantedst it.Thou preparedst room before it, And it took deep root, and filled the land.The mountains were covered with the shadow of it, And the boughs thereof were like cedars of God.It sent out its branches unto the sea, And its shoots unto the River.Why hast thou broken down its walls, So that all they that pass by the way do pluck it?The boar out of the wood doth ravage it, And the wild beasts of the field feed on it.Turn again, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: Look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine,And the stock which thy right hand planted, And the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.It is burned with fire, it is cut down: They perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant may be with Levi, saith Jehovah of hosts.My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him that he might fear; and he feared me, and stood in awe of my name.The law of truth was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and uprightness, and turned many away from iniquity.For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth; for he is the messenger of Jehovah of hosts.But ye are turned aside out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble in the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith Jehovah of hosts.Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have had respect of persons in the law.

So I took the heads of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, and captains of fifties, and captains of tens, and officers, according to your tribes.And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the sojourner that is with him.Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; ye shall hear the small and the great alike; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you ye shall bring unto me, and I will hear it.

saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat:

And Micaiah said, Therefore hear thou the word of Jehovah: I saw Jehovah sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

Hear the word of Jehovah, ye children of Israel; for Jehovah hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land.

For it is as when a man, going into another country, called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his several ability; and he went on his journey.

and say, Hear ye the word of Jehovah, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem: thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle.

Hear the word of Jehovah, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.
