父親前來對小兒子也說同樣的話。「小兒子回答說：『主啊，我去。』可是他沒有去。

謂其仲子亦如之、對曰、主諾、既而不往、

命其次子亦如之、對曰、主、諾、既而不果往、

又就次子、亦如此言、對曰、主、我往、而終不往、

諭次子亦往、次子曰：「大人、我往。」然竟未往也。

And the man came to his second son and said the same thing; and he replied,‘ I will, sir’; and yet he did not go.

Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said,‘ I go, sir,’ but he did not go.

Then the man went to the other and said the same thing.“‘ I will, sir,’ he answered. But he didn’t go.

他们声称认识神，却在行为上否认他。他们是可憎的、悖逆的，在各样的善事上，是毫无用处的。

他们成群来到你那里，坐在你面前，象是我的子民一样。其实他们听了你的话，却不去行；他们只是用口表示爱慕，他们的心却是追随不义之财。

所以凡他们吩咐你们的，你们都要遵行和谨守，但不可效法他们的行为，因为他们只会说而不去作。

你身为犹太人，倚靠律法，仗着神夸口，而且明白他的旨意，又从律法得了教导，能够辨别什么是好的，自信是瞎子的向导，在黑暗中的人的光，愚昧人的导师，小孩子的教师，在律法上得了整套的知识和真理；你既然教导别人，难道不教导自己吗？你传讲不可偷窃，自己却偷窃吗？你说不可奸淫，自己却奸淫吗？你憎恶偶像，自己却劫掠庙宇吗？你既然以律法夸口，自己却因犯律法而羞辱神吗？正如经上所说的：“神的名，因你们的缘故在列邦中被亵渎。”你若遵行律法，割礼固然有益处；但你若是犯律法的，你的割礼就不是割礼了。
