人若不住在我裏面，便像枝子扔在外面、枯乾了；人收集起來，扔在火裏，就燒掉了。

他們自稱為認識上帝，卻用行為去否認他。他們是可憎的、悖逆的，在各樣善行上都不中用。

耶穌應時對那樹說：『今後必永遠不再有人由你而得喫果子了！』門徒都聽見了。

不義的讓他仍舊不義；垢污的讓他仍舊蒙垢污；義的讓他仍舊行義；聖潔的讓他仍舊聖潔。』

於是耶穌講這個比喻說：『有一個人有一棵無花果樹栽在他的葡萄園裏；他來，在樹上找果子，卻找不着。就對葡萄園工說：「你看，我來、在這無花果樹上找果子、卻找不着，已經三年了。把它砍了吧；何必讓它白佔地土呢？」園工回答他說：「主人啊，這一年也容它吧；等我在它周圍挖掘，撒上糞。將來若結果子便罷；如果不然，你才把它砍掉。」』

就是現在、斧子也已放在樹根上了；所以凡不結好果子的樹都要砍下來，丟在火裏。』

我為我的葡萄園所能作的、還有甚麼沒有作到呢？我指望着它結好葡萄，它為甚麼倒結了野葡萄呢？如今我告訴你們我要怎樣處理我的葡萄園。我要把它的籬笆撤去，使它被吞喫；我要把它的圍牆拆個破口，使它被踐踏。

這些人是你們愛席上的污點；在宴會時只顧牧養自己，毫無畏懼！嘿，沒有水份的雲，被風飄蕩着！深秋時沒有果子的樹，死了又死，連根都拔出來！

田地吸收屢次下在地上的雨水，產生着青菜、對地之所為而被耕種的人有了用處，就從上帝享受祝福；但若生出荊棘和蒺藜，就不中用，近於受咒詛；其結局乃是被焚燒。

凡在我身上不結果子的枝子，他就除掉；凡結果子的，他就使它潔淨，叫它結果子更多。

倘若他們既因認識我們的主、救主耶穌基督、而逃脫了世俗的染污，又在其中被纏住被制勝着，那麼他們末後的景況就比先前的更壞了。他們認識了正義之路以後，若從所傳授給他們的聖誡上退轉下去，那倒不如沒有認識過好啊。『狗轉過身來，喫自己所嘔吐的』；『豬洗了身，又去污泥裏打滾！』這真實的俗語所說的、已在這些人身上得證實了。

有敬虔的形式，卻背棄了敬虔的實質；這種人、你要躲開。

說：『巴不得連你也在這日子知道那關於你平安之事哦；無奈已被隱藏、使你的眼看不出來了。因為日子必臨到你，你的仇敵必給你環築起土壘來，周圍環繞你，四面困住你，摔毁你和你裏面你那些兒女，不容你裏面有一塊石頭留在一塊石頭上；因為你認不出你被鑒察的時機。』
