一个人如果不住在我里面，就像枝条被丢在外面枯干了，然后被收集扔进火里焚烧。

他们声称认识神，却在行为上否认他。他们是可憎恶的、悖逆的，在任何美善的工作上都经不起考验。

于是他对那棵树说：“永远不再有任何人吃到你的果子了！”他的门徒都听见了。

行不义的，让他继续行不义；肮脏的，让他继续肮脏；公义的，让他继续行公义；圣洁的，让他继续被分别为圣。”

于是耶稣讲了这个比喻：“一个人有一棵无花果树栽在自己的葡萄园里。当他过来，在那树上找果子时，却找不到，就对园丁说：‘你看，一连三年，我在这无花果树上找果子，都找不到。把它砍了吧！何必让它白占土地？’“但是园丁回答，对他说：‘主人，今年再留着它吧。等我在它周围挖掘，施些粪肥，或许它来年真会结出果子，否则，你就砍了它。’”

现在斧子已经放在树根上，所有不结好果子的树都要被砍下来，被丢进火里。”

为了我的葡萄园，还有什么该做的事我没有做呢？我指望结出好葡萄，为什么却结出了野葡萄呢？现在我告诉你们，我要怎样处理我的葡萄园：我必除掉它的篱笆，它就被吞尽；拆毁它的围墙，它就被践踏。

这些人在你们的爱筵中是污点，与你们一起吃喝也无所惧怕；他们只牧养自己；他们是无水的云，随风飘荡；是深秋不结果子的树，死了又死，被连根拔起；

要知道，当一块田地吸收了常常降在它上面的雨水，并且为种地的人长出有用菜蔬时，它就享受从神而来的祝福；但如果它长出荆棘和蒺藜，就没有用处了，很快就要被诅咒，它的结局就是被焚烧。

所有属于我而不结果子的枝条，他就除掉；而所有结果子的，他就修剪干净，好让它结出更多的果子。

原来，他们如果藉着认识我们的主、救主耶稣基督而逃脱这世界的污秽，却又被这些污秽纠缠、制伏了，那么，他们最后的情况就比先前更坏了；因为认识了义的道路以后，背离那交托给他们的神圣诫命，对他们来说，倒不如不认识还好。在他们身上正应验了这真实的俗语：“狗转身回到自己所吐的东西；猪洗干净了又到污泥中打滚。”

有敬神的外表，却否定敬神的实质；这样的人你要避开。

说：“巴不得你在这日子里明白关乎你和平的事，但如今这事在你眼前被隐藏了。因为日子将临到你，你的敌人要筑起壁垒包围你，四面困住你。而且，他们要将你和你里面的儿女猛摔在地，不容你里面有一块石头留在另一块石头上，因为你没有认出神临到你的时候。”
