人若不住在我裡面，就像枝子丟在外面枯乾了，人把它們拾起來，丟在火裡燒掉了。

他們聲稱認識神，卻在行為上否認他。他們是可憎的、悖逆的，在各樣的善事上，是毫無用處的。

耶穌對樹說：“永遠再沒有人吃你的果子了！”他的門徒也聽見了。

不義的，要他仍舊不義；污穢的，要他仍舊污穢；行義的，要他仍舊行義；聖潔的，要他仍舊聖潔。”

耶穌講了這樣一個比喻：“有一個人把一棵無花果樹栽在自己的葡萄園裡。他來到樹那裡找果子，卻找不到。他對管園的說：‘你看，這三年，我來到這棵無花果樹那裡找果子，卻找不到，把它砍了吧！何必白佔地土呢？’管園的說：‘主人，今年且留著它，等我把周圍的泥土挖鬆，加上肥料；以後結果子就罷，不然，再把它砍了。’”

現在斧頭已經放在樹根上，所有不結好果子的樹，就砍下來，丟在火裡。”

我為我的葡萄園所作的以外，還有甚麼要作的呢？我期望它結出好葡萄，它為甚麼倒結出野葡萄呢？現在我告訴你們，我要怎樣處理我的葡萄園：我要把它的籬笆撤去，使它被吞滅；我要把它的圍牆拆毀，使它被踐踏。

這些人膽敢與你們同席，他們只顧餵飽（“餵飽”或譯：“牧養”）自己，是你們愛筵中的暗礁；是無雨的浮雲，隨風飄蕩；是秋天不結果子的樹，連根拔起，死而又死；

這就像一塊地，吸收了常常下在它上面的雨水，如果長出對種植的人有用的菜蔬，就從神那裡得福。但如果這塊地長出荊棘和蒺藜來，就被廢棄，近於咒詛，結局就是焚燒。

所有屬我而不結果子的枝子，他就剪去；所有結果子的，他就修剪乾淨，讓它結更多的果子。

如果他們因為認識我們的主、救主耶穌基督，可以脫離世上的污穢，後來又在其中被纏住、受制伏，他們末了的景況，就比先前的更不好了。既然認識了義路，竟又背棄傳給他們的聖誡命，對他們來說，倒不如不認識好得多了。他們的情形，正像俗語所說的：“狗轉過來，又吃自己所吐的；豬洗淨了，又到污泥中去打滾。”

有敬虔的形式，卻否定敬虔的能力；這些人你應當避開。

說：“巴不得你在這日子，知道關於你平安的事，但現在這事在你眼前是隱藏的。日子將到，你的仇敵必築壘攻擊你，周圍環繞你，四面困住你，要摧毀你和你裡面的兒女，沒有一塊石頭留在另一塊石頭上面，因為你不知道那眷顧你的時期。”
