前呼後擁的群眾喊叫著：“‘和散那’歸於大衛的子孫，奉主名來的是應當稱頌的，高天之上當唱‘和散那’。”

群眾中有幾個法利賽人對他說：“先生，責備你的門徒吧！”耶穌說：“我告訴你們，他們若不出聲，石頭都要呼叫了。”

祭司長和法利賽人早已下了命令：如果有人知道耶穌在哪裡，就要前來報告，好去逮捕他。

耶和華啊！你的手高舉，他們還是看不見。願他們因看見你對子民的熱心而慚愧；願那為你的敵人預備的火吞滅他們。

有一天，耶穌在殿裡教導人，宣講福音，眾祭司長、經學家和長老上前來，

祭司長和經學家聽見了，就想辦法怎樣除掉耶穌，卻又怕他，因為群眾都希奇他的教訓。

祭司長和長老慫恿群眾，叫他們去要求釋放巴拉巴，除掉耶穌。

耶穌進了聖殿，正在教導人的時候，祭司長和民間的長老前來問他：“你憑甚麼權柄作這些事？誰給你這權柄？”

於是法利賽人彼此說：“你們看，你們都是徒勞無功，世人都去跟隨他了！”

祭司長和公議會全體都想找假證供來控告耶穌，好把他處死；

“你們對基督的看法怎樣？他是誰的子孫呢？”他們回答：“大衛的子孫。”

於是祭司長和法利賽人召開公議會，說：“這個人行了許多神蹟，我們怎麼辦呢？我們若讓他這樣，所有的人都會信他，羅馬人就會來，奪取我們的聖地，除滅我們的民族。”他們當中有一位該亞法，是那年作大祭司的，對他們說：“你們甚麼都不知道，
