耶穌進了聖殿，開始把那些做買賣的人趕出去，對他們說：「經上記著：『我的殿將成為禱告的殿』，而你們卻使它成為賊窩了！」耶穌天天在聖殿裡教導人。祭司長們、經文士們和民間的首領們想要殺害他，

他們來到耶路撒冷。耶穌進了聖殿，開始把那些在聖殿裡做買賣的人趕出去。他推翻了兌換銀幣之人的桌子和賣鴿子之人的凳子，也不准任何人搬運東西穿過聖殿。耶穌教導他們說：「經上不是記著『我的殿將被稱為萬國禱告的殿』嗎？而你們卻使它成為賊窩了！」祭司長們和經文士們聽了，就圖謀怎樣來除滅耶穌。原來他們怕耶穌，因為眾人都對他的教導驚嘆不已。

並按照主的律法上所說的，獻上了「一對斑鳩或兩隻雛鴿」為祭物。

萬軍之耶和華說：「看哪，我要派遣我的使者在我前面預備道路！你們所尋求的主，必突然來到他的殿；看哪，你們所喜悅的那立約的使者，就要來到！」不過他來的日子，誰能承受得起呢？他顯現的時候，誰能站立得住呢？因為他像煉金之人的火，又像漂布之人的鹼。

耶穌進了耶路撒冷，來到聖殿，環視周圍的一切。天已經晚了，他就與十二使徒一同離開，往伯大尼去了。
