趁著白晝，我們必須作那差我來者的工；黑夜一到，就沒有人能作工了。

並且不要懶惰，卻要效法那些憑著信心和忍耐承受應許的人。

原來所有雅典人和外僑，專好談論和打聽新奇的事，來打發時間。

凡是你手可作的，都當盡力去作；因為在你所要去的陰間裡，既沒有工作，又沒有籌謀；沒有知識，也沒有智慧。

你妹妹所多瑪的罪孽是這樣：她和她的女兒們都驕傲自大，糧食豐足，生活安逸，卻沒有幫助困苦和貧窮的人。

懶惰使人沉睡，閒懶的人必受飢餓。

另一個就應聲責備他說：“你是同樣受刑的，還不懼怕神嗎？我們是罪有應得的。我們所受的與所作的相稱，然而這個人並沒有作過甚麼不對的事。”他又對耶穌說：“耶穌啊，你得國降臨的時候，求你記念我。”耶穌對他說：“我實在告訴你，今天你必定同我在樂園裡了。”
