You know that from your empty way of life inherited from your ancestors you were ransomed– not by perishable things like silver or gold,but by precious blood like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb, namely Christ.

Because Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, to bring you to God, by being put to death in the flesh but by being made alive in the spirit.

and from Jesus Christ– the faithful witness, the firstborn from among the dead, the ruler over the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and has set us free from our sins at the cost of his own blood

Each of you should be concerned not only about your own interests, but about the interests of others as well.You should have the same attitude toward one another that Christ Jesus had,who though he existed in the form of God did not regard equality with God as something to be grasped,but emptied himself by taking on the form of a slave, by looking like other men, and by sharing in human nature.He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death– even death on a cross!

and when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty- four elders threw themselves to the ground before the Lamb. Each of them had a harp and golden bowls full of incense( which are the prayers of the saints).They were singing a new song:“ You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals because you were killed, and at the cost of your own blood you have purchased for God persons from every tribe, language, people, and nation.

Although he was a son, he learned obedience through the things he suffered.

he got up from the meal, removed his outer clothes, took a towel and tied it around himself.He poured water into the washbasin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to dry them with the towel he had wrapped around himself.Then he came to Simon Peter. Peter said to him,“ Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”Jesus replied,“ You do not understand what I am doing now, but you will understand after these things.”Peter said to him,“ You will never wash my feet!” Jesus replied,“ If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.”Simon Peter said to him,“ Lord, wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head!”Jesus replied,“ The one who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean. And you disciples are clean, but not every one of you.”( For Jesus knew the one who was going to betray him. For this reason he said,“ Not every one of you is clean.”)So when Jesus had washed their feet and put his outer clothing back on, he took his place at the table again and said to them,“ Do you understand what I have done for you?You call me‘ Teacher’ and‘ Lord,’ and do so correctly, for that is what I am.If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you too ought to wash one another’s feet.For I have given you an example– you should do just as I have done for you.I tell you the solemn truth, the slave is not greater than his master, nor is the one who is sent as a messenger greater than the one who sent him.If you understand these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

for this is my blood, the blood of the covenant, that is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that although he was rich, he became poor for your sakes, so that you by his poverty could become rich.

Though the LORD desired to crush him and make him ill, once restitution is made, he will see descendants and enjoy long life, and the LORD’s purpose will be accomplished through him.Having suffered, he will reflect on his work, he will be satisfied when he understands what he has done.“ My servant will acquit many, for he carried their sins.

Certainly a man cannot rescue his brother; he cannot pay God an adequate ransom price

But the gracious gift is not like the transgression. For if the many died through the transgression of the one man, how much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man Jesus Christ multiply to the many!And the gift is not like the one who sinned. For judgment, resulting from the one transgression, led to condemnation, but the gracious gift from the many failures led to justification.For if, by the transgression of the one man, death reigned through the one, how much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ!Consequently, just as condemnation for all people came through one transgression, so too through the one righteous act came righteousness leading to life for all people.For just as through the disobedience of the one man many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of one man many will be made righteous.

He said to them,“ This is my blood, the blood of the covenant, that is poured out for many.

“ Seventy weeks have been determined concerning your people and your holy city to put an end to rebellion, to bring sin to completion, to atone for iniquity, to bring in perpetual righteousness, to seal up the prophetic vision, and to anoint a most holy place.So know and understand: From the issuing of the command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until an anointed one, a prince arrives, there will be a period of seven weeks and sixty-two weeks. It will again be built, with plaza and moat, but in distressful times.Now after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one will be cut off and have nothing. As for the city and the sanctuary, the people of the coming prince will destroy them. But his end will come speedily like a flood. Until the end of the war that has been decreed there will be destruction.

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace

He was led away after an unjust trial– but who even cared? Indeed, he was cut off from the land of the living; because of the rebellion of his own people he was wounded.

just as the Father knows me and I know the Father– and I lay down my life for the sheep.

and live in love, just as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God.

and he himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for our sins but also for the whole world.

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we may cease from sinning and live for righteousness. By his wounds you were healed.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us( because it is written,“ Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”)

He was given over because of our transgressions and was raised for the sake of our justification.

For it was fitting for him, for whom and through whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

and if God is gracious to him and says,‘ Spare him from going down to the place of corruption, I have found a ransom for him,’

But they are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.God publicly displayed him at his death as the mercy seat accessible through faith. This was to demonstrate his righteousness, because God in his forbearance had passed over the sins previously committed.This was also to demonstrate his righteousness in the present time, so that he would be just and the justifier of the one who lives because of Jesus’ faithfulness.

He was wounded because of our rebellious deeds, crushed because of our sins; he endured punishment that made us well; because of his wounds we have been healed.

You do not realize that it is more to your advantage to have one man die for the people than for the whole nation to perish.”( Now he did not say this on his own, but because he was high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the Jewish nation,and not for the Jewish nation only, but to gather together into one the children of God who are scattered.)

Jesus said to him,“ Foxes have dens, and the birds in the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”
