耶穌從那裏往前走，看見另外兩兄弟，就是西庇太的兒子雅各和他弟弟約翰，同他們的父親西庇太在船上補網，耶穌就呼召他們。

這時，一個痲瘋病人前來拜他，說：「主啊，你若肯，你能使我潔淨。」

其中有抹大拉的馬利亞，又有雅各和約瑟的母親馬利亞，並有西庇太兩個兒子的母親。

西庇太的兒子雅各和約翰進前來，對耶穌說：「老師，我們無論求你甚麼，願你為我們做。」耶穌對他們說：「要我為你們做甚麼？」他們對他說：「在你的榮耀裏，請賜我們一個坐在你右邊，一個坐在你左邊。」耶穌對他們說：「你們不知道所求的是甚麼。我所喝的杯，你們能喝嗎？我所受的洗，你們能受嗎？」他們對他說：「我們能。」耶穌對他們說：「我所喝的杯，你們要喝；我所受的洗，你們也要受。可是坐在我的左右，不是我可以賜的，而是為誰預備就賜給誰。」其餘十個門徒聽見，就對雅各和約翰很生氣。耶穌叫了他們來，對他們說：「你們知道，外邦人有君王作主治理他們，有大臣操權管轄他們。但是在你們中間，不可這樣。你們中間誰願為大，就要作你們的用人；在你們中間誰願為首，就要作眾人的僕人。因為人子來，並不是要受人的服事，乃是要服事人，並且要捨命作多人的贖價。」

還有些婦女遠遠地觀看，其中有抹大拉的馬利亞，又有小雅各和約西的母親馬利亞，並有撒羅米，

在船上的人都拜他，說：「你真是神的兒子。」

進了房子，看見小孩子和他母親馬利亞，就俯伏拜那小孩子，揭開寶盒，拿出黃金、乳香、沒藥，作為禮物獻給他。

那婦人來拜他，說：「主啊，幫幫我！」

他們見了耶穌就拜他，然而還有人疑惑。
