For I delivered unto you first of all that which also I received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;and that he was buried; and that he hath been raised on the third day according to the scriptures;and that he appeared to Cephas; then to the twelve;then he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep;then he appeared to James; then to all the apostles;

him, being delivered up by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye by the hand of lawless men did crucify and slay:

Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Prætorium, and gathered unto him the whole band.And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.And they platted a crown of thorns and put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!And they spat upon him, and took the reed and smote him on the head.And when they had mocked him, they took off from him the robe, and put on him his garments, and led him away to crucify him.

They lead Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Prætorium: and it was early; and they themselves entered not into the Prætorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the passover.Pilate therefore went out unto them, and saith, What accusation bring ye against this man?They answered and said unto him, If this man were not an evil- doer, we should not have delivered him up unto thee.Pilate therefore said unto them, Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law. The Jews said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying by what manner of death he should die.Pilate therefore entered again into the Prætorium, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?Jesus answered, Sayest thou this of thyself, or did others tell it thee concerning me?Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end have I been born, and to this end am I come into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find no crime in him.

And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the officers received him with blows of their hands.

for of a truth in this city against thy holy Servant Jesus, whom thou didst anoint, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, were gathered together,

He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we esteemed him not.

And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ha! thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,save thyself, and come down from the cross.In like manner also the chief priests mocking him among themselves with the scribes said, He saved others; himself he cannot save.

The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Servant Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied before the face of Pilate, when he had determined to release him.But ye denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted unto you,and killed the Prince of life; whom God raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.And by faith in his name hath his name made this man strong, whom ye behold and know: yea, the faith which is through him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

And straightway in the morning the chief priests with the elders and scribes, and the whole council, held a consultation, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him up to Pilate.

for as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

And coming to us, and taking Paul’s girdle, he bound his own feet and hands, and said, Thus saith the Holy Spirit, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.

And the whole company of them rose up, and brought him before Pilate.And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this man perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cæsar, and saying that he himself is Christ a king.And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest.And Pilate said unto the chief priests and the multitudes, I find no fault in this man.But they were the more urgent, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Judæa, and beginning from Galilee even unto this place.

Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and arrayed him in a purple garment;and they came unto him, and said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they struck him with their hands.And Pilate went out again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him out to you, that ye may know that I find no crime in him.

Then did they spit in his face and buffet him: and some smote him with the palms of their hands,saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ: who is he that struck thee?

And Herod with his soldiers set him at nought, and mocked him, and arraying him in gorgeous apparel sent him back to Pilate.

After two days will he revive us: on the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live before him.

Like the profane mockers in feasts, They gnashed upon me with their teeth.

All they that see me laugh me to scorn: They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,Commit thyself unto Jehovah; let him deliver him: Let him rescue him, seeing he delighteth in him.

and they bound him, and led him away, and delivered him up to Pilate the governor.Then Judas, who betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,saying, I have sinned in that I betrayed innocent blood. But they said, What is that to us? see thou to it.And he cast down the pieces of silver into the sanctuary, and departed; and he went away and hanged himself.And the chief priests took the pieces of silver, and said, It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood.And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in.Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.Then was fulfilled that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was priced, whom certain of the children of Israel did price;and they gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord appointed me.

Thy dead shall live; my dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in the dust; for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast forth the dead.

and he said unto them, Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead the third day;
